This is about 2 miles from where I'm sitting right now. I suspect the musher was training for the Northern Pines Sled Dog race coming up on February 19? I'm on this section of the Tri-county Corridor a lot and occasionally see a sled dog team. I wish the victims the best. Wow.

Looking like some good snow reports coming in. Lake Nebagamon reporting 18", Blueberry reporting 15" (about 12 miles west of Iron River), and Cornucopia/Bayfield area reporting 15". I think it's still snowing, too.

I was thinking about this thread and was curious how much snow the area got, so I did a bit of googling. Northstar at Tahoe (a ski resort on the north side of Lake Tahoe) got 117" of snow Xmas week. Also, the UC-Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab on Donner Pass (just west of Lake Tahoe) received...

I would guess about 7" or so here in Iron River, WI. I see the Brainerd, MN got a good amount, about 15-18".

20.1 inches just outside of Grand Marais, MN. I wish we had that down here in Duluth!

I would guess 4-5" in Duluth. 15" up the shore in Finland, MN.

Only about one inch in Duluth.

6.8 inches in Chisholm, MN.

Thanks for posting. I live in Duluth and when the wind is really blowing in off the water, I often wonder (and comment to my wife) what it would be like to be out on the big lake during a big blow. The museum at Whitefish Point is amazing. Very sombering. Also, the Valley Camp ship museum...

Has anyone seen any snowfall reports from Alaska? I saw one news article that said it is "likely" that over 10 feet has fallen in the mountains, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

That's crazy! I followed one of the links in the story you referred to and saw that Michigan's 3-day snowfall record is 60.0 inches (assuming I read the chart properly). That's pretty crazy, too.

We got about 1.5" overnight in Iron River, WI. Washburn, WI got about 3", according to the NWS.
