    Got the itch

Thanks for the replies guys. Now I'm even more torn. Good points on the tippy factor and eating dust. My daughter has a SXS and I have used it. I guess I'm comparing apples to oranges. Sitting in a SXS as opposed to straddling the ATV. Steering wheel and gas pedal vs. handlebars and throttle. I...

    Got the itch

I'm getting tired of waiting for the snow, so the wife gave me the green light to buy a new 2 up ATV for her and I to go play on the trails in Northern Wisconsin. After a lot of internet due diligence, I have it narrowed down to a Can Am Outlander Max XT700 or a Polaris Sportsman Touring 570...

    The Olympics

Probably was the French who did the skit but America reporting on it and getting American perspective on it showed a lot of goofy people who thought that was ok. And I'm sure the International Olympic Committee where there is American representation had to approve a stupid thing like that.

    The Olympics

What was with the drag queen thing mocking the last supper? Still amazes me how weird and disrespectful America has become.

My vehicle was totaled by my insurance company

My wife and daughter both have 21 Jeep Grand Cherokees Paul. Great vehicles. You will be very happy. My wife's has the V8 hemi. The thing is a rocket. Daughters has the V6. She loves it for all of the U.P miles she puts on it with the gas mileage.

When They Double Dog Dare You

I was at Wrigley Field for a Cubs game as a kid in the early 70s with my dad and a streaker ran the field. Security beat the crap out of that idiot in front of 30,000 cheering fans and WGN television. I miss the days of no video, cell phone cameras, etc. when someone did something stupid and got...

So.......I started a project, My new Garage!

Looks great Paul. Looking forward to getting over there and seeing it in person. The little guy is a lot bigger than the last pictures. Enjoy your visit with them. My grandson made his first trip north to our cabin last week. Mosquitoes were brutal so not a lot of outside time but he did get to...

    An Antique Farmall

Seeing your work in the past, it will probably belong in a museum instead of cruising the trails.

Quite a blow up here on 4/16

Best investment we made was a whole house generator. Learned the hard way when we were down in Chicago for a couple of weeks and when we returned to cabin, a god-awful stink greeted us when we opened door. Power had been out during summer heat from a storm and everything in refrigerator/freezer...

    Retirement Scenario

As I have started to slow down a little, I told my kids and their spouses that one long weekend in late spring/early summer, is a mandatory clean-up, fix this and that, and repair winter damage, downed trees stuff, no questions asked. They are great about it because they can and do use it...

    Retirement Scenario

From Park Ridge to Presque Isle is 380 miles. Good drive up there is around 5 1/2 hours with one stop in Westfield for gas. Bad drive is around 6 hours. We try to leave PR around 5 or 6 am and we are north before lunch and still have day in front of us. I try to keep it around 75 mph in the 70...

    Retirement Scenario

You are so correct. I was 33 when we bought/built our cabin. 27 years of hard work making improvements and maintaining, but absolute enjoyment and our escape spot from normal work and life. Now at 60 years old, knee replaced, and years of wear and tear on the rest of me, I depend on the kids to...

    Retirement Scenario

We are fortunate enough to have a place in the Northwoods that we had to stretch to buy in'97. (It took two incomes) We had been vacationing there since we got married in '89 with best friends at their cabin that their family bought in '78. Found a 5-acre parcel with 250' frontage on a 100-acre...

    Ye olde shillelagh

Sad to see it. Was always a good place to stop on the snowmobiles or hang out in summer to listen to music.

    Squatters Rights

Squat at my cabin and they will get the pleasure of a Rottweiler with a short fuse and an attitude problem and an armed owner who has not had his distemper shots in many years.
