    How is trail grooming managed?

I would also add that whatever re-imbursment the clubs get for trail work it is a fraction of what you may think it is. When I was Trailmaster we ended up buying screws, using our own chainsaws, oil, gas, etc in addition to trailering around and storing everything (This was in a SE WI County)...

    NW Vilas Update 3/21

Took a little ride this morning and met up with a fellow JD (Jerry and his buds) up in Mercer for breakfast at the Great Northern which appears to be the olny place open for breakfast in Mercer right now. Left Mercer and Jerry and his crew headed back to MW as they had to pack up and leave. I...

    How is trail grooming managed?

1st, Making trails smooth for people that don't understand and complain is a thankless job. In Wisconsin, Clubs are all volunteer (Correct me if I am wrong) Trails, grooming, training programs, brushing, maintenance is funded through the DNR program until money runs out All clubs also fund the...

    Vilas goodness!

Seems like most people that really don't know their way around up here stay in Eagle River or Minocqua because of lodging. So.......those areas get a lot of traffic and maybe that's what their expectations are but there is so much more of Vilas that has great clubs and trails and less traffic...

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

I bought my 2017 900 Ace in January of 2021. There were virtually no sleds for sale and I was willing to sit out the season but that sled became available because it's owner died of cancer, really wasn't even shopping for any specific brand at the time but I did want a 4 stroke. I have had 3...

2024 Yamaha. Is it going to happen?

Nice, Glad you get time to spend with your parents doing something you all like. You are so right about the gas guzzlers those sleds are and it's amazing going from a 2 stroke 600 Classic which I loved to the 900 Ace Renegade 4 stroke and the mileage that they get. My old 600 still ran great and...

    NW Vilas update 3-14-23

Had to go to Minocqua today, it was snowing pretty hard when we left MW and the trails looked great from what I could see from the truck. A fair amount of people up riding this weekend and roads are snow covered again as we received 4" combined from the storm. High of 19 today, lows in single...

Another 2" here overnight in MW. That give us 4" of new from this blockbuster event, will keep the trails nice until it warms up later in the week, maybe another ride Tuesday? To the north and NW of us they did get a lot more, up by Hurley over a foot. And it's 10 degrees this morning so...

Retail Price Of Skidoo Advent Helmet?

Yeah, that's what I figured, my racing days were over long ago. My Polaris Classic 600 was the same, Liberty, smooth motor as well.

Retail Price Of Skidoo Advent Helmet?

I don't get that, in all my years I have had really good luck with belts, like getting a lot of mileage out of a belt. Probably just jinxed myself!

    Tomahawk update 3-14-23

I won't be out on the trails but with 2" of fresh snow I would think they would be OK, once back in the woods those trails had a lot of snow to work with and some great base, the farther northwest you go the better chance you will have for higher snowfall totals. 4-5" tonight for NW Vilas County...

Happy St. Patty's Day! 2" of snow overnight in MW Area and it's currently 19 degrees. Light snow at the moment, calling for 1" during the day and 4" Friday night. Trails should be OK now with 2" of fresh, if we get 4" tonight Saturday should be good to go. Ride on! and Ride right!
