    9/11/01 Where were you?

Very quiet 16 hour drive from Denver to Wisconsin that day as well, it seemed like everywhere I went no one was out on the roads. I traveled the next week out to Seattle and I think there were a total of 4 people on my flight. Minneapolis airport had soldiers with AK's, it took awhile before...

    9/11/01 Where were you?

God Bless all those and their families that endured 9/11/01. I was in Denver, CO that day on business, I remeber my wife called me and asked if I was near a TV. It was breakfast time and I watched the 2nd plane hit the towers, It was a Tuesday I believe and after a few appointments it was clear...

    Canada Fishing is Back

Yes, we are both lucky guys to be able to enjoy the Northwoods and being on the water everyday. You live in a beautiful part of the border area, my parents used to take us on vacation to Lake Vermillion every year and my Dad would take us into the Boundary Waters on canoe trips each summer. What...

Rising fuel costs hinder planned trips?

You're right, it's just one more thing that has changed that I think people liked. Being able to go out for breakfast was nice. I know we used to go out for a big breakfast before we ride sometimes. Have to really look hard to find a place anymore in our neck of the woods anyway. But I get what...

Rising fuel costs hinder planned trips?

Yes, About the same here, 40 Sunday morning, just didn't see that many people out this weekend. I still think people are cutting back their trips up north, I know I would have had to if we hadn't moved here.

Rising fuel costs hinder planned trips?

I noticed yesterday as we were out on lake that this weekend so far is very light on traffic. Typically it's the last big weekend for many but we were even able to sit down at Greers pier for lunch at 1pm when it should have been wall to wall people. Not sure if it's that the kids are wrapped up...

Rising fuel costs hinder planned trips?

Yes, We have a vehicle that uses Premium, lowest is has gotten up here Vilas is $4.40 per gallon. What pisses me off is that it never had to get this way. We didn't have to stop drilling, and using gas as a tool to push this on everyone. In the late part of the year it will really start to hit...

Rising fuel costs hinder planned trips?

Just stating the facts, I look at Minocqua where Perkins just closed and many restaraunts are overwhelmed, their hours are sporadic at best because they don't have consistent help. Perkins may be no great loss but it's just another place gone. For breakfast in Manitowish Waters now there is only...

Rising fuel costs hinder planned trips?

This will only add to the economic downturn in Northern Wisconsin next winter. Even if you are fortunate to come North you will find many places closed, out of business that you used to frequent. Their is a severe shortage of help here in the Northwoods and the older people running bars that...

It's weird, I've never been allergic to bee stings but the Dr. at the ER said sometimes as you age your body doesn't produce enough natural anti-histimines to ward off the bee venom which contains different levels of histimines. So, yes I guess I am in that category now. Check your expiration...
