    The Future of our sport

Great info. I am ALL for the increases mentioned, except I think $50 to $70 for out of state is too steep. I think a $10 increase would suffice there. The current $30 for 3 years reg, and $10/$30 yearly trail passes is too cheap for how much it costs to operate groomers. For how much everything...

I have read that MI increase is a done deal. I’m not sure how much though.

    50”

Judging by the long range temps up there, I don’t see how the snow in the woods will disappear before memorial day

    The Future of our sport

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. “Aging volunteers” is not a problem. Clubs originated mostly in the 70s, and it’s always been the 60-75 yr old crowd that does all the work. Work no longer calls, kids are out of the house. Nothing more a retired avid snowmobiler would love to do than...

    50”

Few more, check out the road stop sign!! I’d say 1/2 the trails we rode were rough, 1/4 were ok, and 1/4 were excellent. Rode from Munising to Grand Marais area and back. These are typically heavily trafficked, so no surprise there. Especially considering they’ve only had a few days to try to...

I’m sure many of you saw the crazy 50” snow totals in the central/eastern UP. Here’s a stop sign near Shingleton today!

    Sunday 3-15

Hard to even throw numbers out it’s so windy. All the roads in my neighborhood were drifted shut at 430 this morning 2-3 feet all the way across, and I have to weave thru A LOT of neighborhood to get out… can’t believe I made it in to work

    Sunday 3-15

Had a 6 hr lull yesterday evening. The news reported 14.8” for Greenville at that time. Started back up a few hours ago, Few more inches overnight, it’s really nasty out right now. If I had to guess we’ll end up with 8 additional. Going to go blow the driveway for the 5th time and head to work.

Yes, Green Bay yesterday was the bullseye. Today the storm has tracked slightly north with Green Bay being on the southern end of the bullseye.

That would be the Skidoo tunnel mounted scratchers. The end pieces, are hardened metal, not carbide. The tips do not last super long, but can be flipped to use the other.

Florence / Forest County trail conditions

We needed our scratchers Saturday morning, but after some traffic, they were no longer needed by mid afternoon, or Sunday for that matter. I did however set all of our sleds torsion springs to 1 to get them to sit lower and get the flap lower to the ground and keep the snow underneath.

Way less traffic. Definitely not UP type scenery, but the clubs that way groom as often as Vilas, but without the traffic. Yes, they often are a bit behind Vilas (and obviously the UP) when it comes to snow. There is not much in the way of lodging over there, so that’s why you don’t run into...

Florence / Forest County trail conditions

Ran along hwy 8 on all freshly groomed this morning to Monico and back burning the last bit of gas out of the beater Indy! Then, once the little man and woman woke up, we did a fantastic 50 mile loop east of Crandon. Little man did fantastic this weekend and keeps looking more comfortable every...

Florence / Forest County trail conditions

Yesterday 20 mile morning solo ride, 70 mile ride with the fam, and 20 mile night ride with the woman for dinner. All in all trails held up just fine! Yes, it refroze and the corners are very icy, anything that was in the sun and was getting slushy froze as well. Be careful and enjoy the last...

Florence / Forest County trail conditions

Here is what we rode. Everything was 10/10. Some burn thru by Johnnie’s when we went past around 11ish so I imagine it’s worse now. Got off the sleds around 230. Stay away from road riding and everything should remain mint. Curious how crunchy things will be in the morning as the temps will drop...
