Most would agree to this statement... You have chosen to mod your sled motor, this is a path that you walk alone. Get some books on plug reading, clutch work, porting 2 stroke motors, exh valves, timing, etc. etc. You can ask for advice but is best learned on your own. Know what your looking for, know how to acheive the goals for which you intended that motor to run. Know & understand why the motor does the things it does, sputter, load up, lean conditions, rich conditions... Not sure but I think NOW that you have "ported cyl's" Re-timing is an issue now also.
Send it to someone who know's a thing or two. Or Sart saving for motor # 3

You could start with 500's and see what it does. You'll need to read the plugs in different throttle positions, not just wfo. Hopefully you know what detonation sounds like. I would leave the needle in the middle to start with and go from there. It depends on how much more air you're gonna move for a higher fuel demand in different areas of throttle position. The 03's respond great to replacing the needle with an 02 needle. Crisper throttle response and better fuel economy in the midrange. But this is another can of worms if you don't know what you're doing. Basically go fat and lean it out as you can, same thing with the needle position. All this also has to be done when it is nearly as cold as you're ever gonna ride also.
There is no clear answer to sizes and needle positioning, as every engine reacts a little different. As was previously stated, if you are not well versed in this stuff, take it to someone who is.

who ported the jugs? do you know what type of port job he did? the guy who did the porting would be your first call.he prob has some time testing his porting with diff set ups.
if you have no idea about ether of those things and not a lot of tuning experience call Olav Aaen talk to him a bit.
when I am tuning a new toy or mod I have a Air/Fuel I hook up in the can and just run on a sm 12v battery I find it the best way for me to tune.I just think of it as a needed tool in the box to make my life a bit more ez.

honestly im just going to run 500s and see whats up. i got 2 motors lined up. also i put a new oil pump on my motor think thats what caused my sled to lean down in the first place. i did not get much info on the jugs just traded my junk ones for the 2 good one its slp porting tho. ill do a lil tinkering with it tom and hope it works out

I'd start with the biggest jets possible. Don't wanna lean it out again. Wouldn't be a bad idea to get a needle shim kit and run the needles a half clip richer

500s are too big you dont need to go any bigger than 470s the 450s are stock so 2 sizes over is plenty .
