Just a heads up for those that don;t know, the main bearing goes out on these at around 4-5K miles. In my case 4300 miles. Speedo stops working then light comes on, causing motor to bog down & barley run.

Luckily it didnt leave me stranded! I contacted Kip at Pats in Greenland MI and he got me in the next day.
GREAT SERVICE THERE! It is rare you find a dealer that will get you in the next day and repair the sled in a few hours! They have won over my business.

Had lunch across the street at the Pit Stop, Jim the owner is so accomodating, friendly and caring, when he found out a sled was down, he graciously offered the use of his personal sled a 2012 Nyrto, I was floored by that! (No I didnt take him up on it).

The trails were awesome and traffic low for my last ride of the year.

Happy Spring and Summer to all you fellow JDers! If you have a chance, come up to the Lake Gogebic area in the summer, you won;t be disappointed, low lake traffic, awesome fishing, beautiful surrondings.

Best Wishes

Todd Davis

BTW....by "main bearing"....did you mean the left side track drive axle bearing?...still confused how that would cause the engine to barely run.

Correct Drive Axle Bearing----You may want to confirm this is an issue with all Nytro;s since mine is a 08, it is my understanding that it is an issue on ALL years. Wasn;t to bad in terms of cost around $200

The drive axle bearing should be changed at 4000 to 6000 miles.Your sled is a 08 five yrs of running this bearing gets wet high torque engine. This was not a problem on the old yammie 2 strokes why I do not know.

Todd, glad we could help you. Pretty much any sled needs this service done guys. That's many rotations on any bearing. We change these on all brands of sleds. My advice would be to change it no later than 5 thousand miles. Saves you lost time on your trip and the bearing is not expensive! Thanks, Kip

Had one to out on a Nytro at 9,000ish miles... On another Nytro we replaced it at 6,500 when we put a new track on for "preventative" measures. With these high mileage sleds it becomes a must replace part.

Had I not pulled the seals and regreased the drive and bogie bearings on my newer yamahas, i doubt they would have made it past 3K

Good advice.
Even better advice........spend the $60 AHEAD of time for both bearings to have on hand. Better to have them back at the truck then trying to find open dealer last minute who may or may not have them in stock.
