Well I am finally coming home after 2+ weeks away from snow and am picking up my new Rush LX from Ken's Wednesday morning. By Thursday eve I will be heading up to Greenland for the big break in ride. Seeing that this sled will be a huge difference from my 07 Switch, what should I expect? I have never ridden a Rush platform sled. Anybody out there have an LX and what do you think of it. This will be my wifes sled next year if Poo comes out with a 136 Rush. But for now it's mine.....sorry honey you get your Supersport for the rest of this year...lol.

Very fun to drive. Takes at least a day to get use to it, because it's kind of tippy running through the woods and on a winding trail. BUT when you get use to it----it's a blast.

That's the sled I would have bought this year, but hoping for a 4 stroke in it next year. I test rode one last year and was very impressed. You have to have it set up right for your weight and your body position can make huge changes in the sleds handling. Let us know what you think after your trip.

The reports have said the LX, with the same shocks as the non-Pro R rush, will ride a little better than the Pro R. Not quite as much a bump sled, but still very capable, and comfortable for all-day riding. The LX has the hacksaw track, instead of the ripsaw, and some feedback on the traction would be appreciated. Did you stick with the mid-height windshield or go with the high one? Curious to hear about wind protection, too -

I am waiting to see if they actually bring out DI next year. That might get me to give up my current Yamaha 4S (2007 Rage). I switched for the fuel economy and no oil costs, but want a more tossable sled. If I could get the same MPG's as the Rage (18-19) I would be OK with the 2S oil costs, especially with a DI motor that uses less oil in general. You should get 15+ once it's broken in, probably more like 13 if you're on the gas a lot.

Looking forward to your report! Enjoy -

I have the hacksaw on my dads and the ripsaw on mine, both brand new. Hardly ANY difference at all. I wish I would've gotten the hacksaw, because i think the lugs would last longer.

Thanks Indy....that was what I wanted to know. We had a 1993 Indy 440 that we put a hacksaw track on, and it made it a very fun sled in the tight turns. But that sled didn't make enough power to really overtax the track, so I was wondering if it will handle 120HP or more. Sounds like it will - thanks!

xcsp,

What did they say about a 4 stroke? Anything new with the Rush? Would love to hear anything they had to say.

Thanks!

Better start checking out 2011 non current Yams or maybe new 2012 Vector LTX with EPS & trade or sell FST now. Give Kip a call at Pat's might cut you a deal on a 2011. I just don't think Poo wants to update 4s. Could be wrong but no leaks so far.

Dealer told me 600 2S gets direct injection. I've heard the 800 is getting DI too. There is a new 4S engine coming out, but I don't believe they're putting it in the Rush.

Get ready to be cold on your Rush....high windshield or not. The Rush is gone for 2012. Nice riding sled, but a captures a market where the term "niche" would be huge volume.

Where do you get your information that it's gone? You've been saying that on another thread too and I just don't believe it. The 2010 Rush 600 was the best selling model that year of any sled.

Rush appeals to niche bump sled market & not going anywhere soon unless Poo wants to piss off those who already took the dive & bought it. The Rush just is not as horizontal as Doo XP appeals to the many. Poo has to have something else coming maybe not this year but soon I hope the IQ too old in tooth.

Groomer Dave, you are wrong about the Rush being a cold ride. Polaris makes 4 windshields. I have the tallest. It has side flares that keep the wind of your body, hands and knees. We were on a cross country ride last week. It was 32 below on Friday. Out of the 4 of us, the 2 not riding Rushes had minor frost bit on their faces at the end of the day. I am not saying I love riding when it’s that cold, but the Rush with the tallest windshield gives you plenty of protection from the cold.

Do the naysayers actually read any snowmobile magazines? SnowGoer, Snowtrax and Snowtech all gave the Rush positive reviews. The platform is definitely NOT going away.

Supertrax says a 136 edition will come out in 2012, with 600 or 800 DI motor choices. They also expect this platform (at least the front half) to eventually replace all the IQ models....it's that good, has gotten great reviews in the Assault and Assault Switchback versions. Very light weight and very rigid - perfect combination for a sled platform.

The Rush LX is pointed at the touring/sit-down market and not the ditch banger. Softer suspension calibrations, more wind protection (it's got the bigger windshield) and storage come standard. I've looked at one several times and am warming up to the concept. A Rush LX 136" with a 600 2S DI motor would stack up nicely against my 2007 Rage (which didn't come with any storage either....I had to add saddle and windshield bags).

If Polaris is serious about expanding this sled all ways, I would think they'll eventually shoehorn a 4S engine in there. Supertrax believes Polaris designed the front half of the Rush with a 4S in mind. We'll see.

I got the impression from a Polaris rep that the Rush/Pro-Ride style chassis was built to be strong, with less weight and he mentioned putting a 4-stroke engine in that chassis would most likely not happen.

I couldn't get any info out of them on any new 4-stroke in any chassis coming for next year, another rep mentioned the new model year release is coming shortly, as we all know, so as I expected they really didn't (can't) reveal any info at this time.

I do not see this new chassis going away anytime soon, and will only get more refined. It definately isn't a "niche" sled.

A few 'older' guys were on the demo ride with us and one of them is getting a new Rush.

As for the design and wind protection, it was around 15-20F degrees on the demo ride and I was very surprised how well the windshields worked, only area I felt a need for better wind protection was when crossing a couple lakes at higher speed-the air flow around the side of the side panels would hit me in the knees-maybe better snow pants would solve that?
They mentioned they do or will(?) have some wind deflectors available to address that. Let me point out that I normally ride closer to the front area of the seat, if I moved back just a bit, I could tuck my knees in a bit out of the wind.

Prior to riding these sleds I had read where it made a big difference on rider position to get it to handle-for me, I didn't see or feel it, I pretty much sat close to the front of the seat and it handled well, hooked up well, stuck in the corners once set up-with stock carbides, I was very surprised how well it carved in the corners-snowcovered or icy.

My only complaint about the Rush chassis, but most new sleds by all manufacturers are in the same boat here-the engine compartment is packed fairly tight and access is limited until you remove all of the plastic. I may be old-school but prefer the old-style open the hood and have access to the entire engine. Just something to get used to.

Have a chance to ride one, do it and base your own opinion, I do not think anyone would be disappointed. Oh yeah, that 800 goes!!

The fact that the Rush platform is being debated as a niche market bump sled is a Poo problem. It does have a forward riding position & WAS marketed as an extreme bump sled when released. Now Poo is trying to say Rush Pro ride is for everyone & blue hairs looking, sitting on then walking away not sure & not willing to take the leap. Rush will stay & Poo always has had multiple platforms in past but needs to update IQ & release new 4s line up. When & if don't know? Rush line ups not selling & still sitting on dealers floor plans rebates & non current pricing coming soon to reduce inventory. If you like Rush wait a bit & you will get a good price to clear them out.

Seeing that I started this thread I will be happy to give my report on my new Rush LX. OOOOOHHHHHHHH WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!!! This is one amazing sled. Coming off my Switchback I did not really know what to expect. This thing handles like no other sled I have ever owned. Now granted it was hard to find some rough trails up near Greenland and Mass, but we did find a few with some potential spine tinglers at the bottom of hills and such. When I braced myself for a hit, it was like where did it go? The stutter bumps were mere vibrations. The larger moguls were like any other sled just ride through them, but now no bottoming out. I was plesantly surprised on the hook up of this track, being only a 121 inch. It was not as great as my Switchback, but then again that was a 144 with 1.25 lugs. We put on over 200 miles and I did tweak the rear shock once or twice just to see what would happen. Other than that the only thing I adjusted was the handwarmers. As far as reports on this being a cold sled, I did not see much difference than my Switch, maybe even a little warmer. I have the standard windshield on it and the tallest one is 3" taller and a bit wider, my wife may like that one better. I like the ergonomics on the Rush better than the Switch, my boots fit the wells better and I have more room for my legs as the seat is a tad higher and more comfortable. I did not bring her up over 70 mph as I was still on break in, but I was impressed with how responsive the motor is. If Poo comes out with a LX 136 I am jumping all over that one. And yes, I guess you can call me a blue hair, if 54 qualifies, but I am not afraid of new tech stuff, as most people may think we are. I have been riding over 40 years and seen alot of sleds come and go and have always moved with the times. To sum this all up, I am very happy with this sled and can't wait till next weekend to ride again. Now.......if I can just pry my wife of the thing.....hurry up Poo make it into a 136!!!!!!

That is an excellent update. Your comments mirror the majority of what I have read from other riders on several other websites. That's great.

I know you're in break in mode, but just wondering....what was your MPG's? Some people report 15+ and others more like 12....quite a range....hoping it's more towards 15.

Also, I think you'll get your wish, everyone expects a 136 for 2012....and we'll know on February 7th!
