hmmm had to giggle:: apex big hot rod sled loads of power 87 oct gas,, 4 stroke 16-18 mpg verses a cat 600 witch isnt to bad on fuel 91 oct with adding oil in resavore .. Buy a bunch of rools of duck tape to keep the wife ontop of the apex !!! she will be waiting at least 10 min for you to catch up with her !!! You will end up buying one for your self after you clean your shorts out from riding it !! It isnt nothing like a 600 twinn .. and the ride is like riding on a cloud !! smmoooth !!anyways good luck with what ever you get for her im shure she will love it !!

She's not the only one getting a new sled. I can't let her be faster than me. We'll probly buck up for two, maybe get a good deal for a pair. I like the 16-18 mpg my 600 triple is like 7-9 mpg with a tailwind, and her ext 580efi is only 10-12mpg, with gas prices that would save alittle each trip. Anyway were gonna probly go to Nielsens in lake villa to take a closer look.

Indy,,, your right but that has been corrected this year, yammi claims now that after 100 mph they are within 2 mph. My buddy Mr Freeze verified that with his GPS on groomed trail, 163 hp Apex will run over 110 mph real world

yamaha has the most inaccurate speedo out there. Snowgoer did a test on it a few years back, the yami was 25 or 26 mph off. just sayin :)

Just returned home from Greenland, rode Mon-Wed and have 900 miles on two 2011 Apex xtx's one red & one blue. Lenny rode with me Wed. night for about 40 miles and was highly impressed with power/handling/eps. The sled he was on had one Slim Jim dulley on the left ski only, the sled I was on had them on both ski's[6 inch], took care of any darting so I will add one more to the sled Lenny was on. As for top end I have seen 110 mph on trail 3 other wise known as Bill Nickols trail which was flat & smooth, and I believe on a road or lake with at least mile stretch that we will see 115-120 after 1200-1500 miles on these motors. Every day these motor's are getting stronger and I love the bite and handling of the 144 inch track's. By the way my wife was with me this week when we put on 400 miles and she love's the sled. Thank's to Pat's Yamaha for awesome customer service again this week as we were dialing them in! Stayed at Lenny's Greenland Town Hall and it is a beatiful place.

More than likely the new Apex SE model will be my next sled. I just wanted to wait a year to make sure everything pans out with the 2011 models. I'll still probably keep my Vector as a spare because it runs as strong as the day I bought it with 6000 miles on it.

goneaway, have you tryed the newer twinspar cats? They steer real easy, kind of like power steering and the bars are adjustable. My wife had pain issues until we got the new twinspar sleds.

Looks like a great sled and 162 hp fast.I never rode 1 ,but i seen it at the dealer and tried to pick up the front end and couldnt move it an inch .Im 212 lbs guy and im not weak . I can see your interst in the elelctric steering all sleds are a shoulder work out when you put on 120 miles aday....
