Much more likely to see a 2S DI motor first....dealer told me so two weeks ago.

Have you looked at the Rush chassis layout? The 2S is already a tight fit. I'm not sure a 4S engine would fit without some growing pains.

So a Rush XXL? :)

That is what it would take for 4s but I think R&D all going to DI2s now going head to head with Doo. Scott Wine has a Danaher background & they choose a direction from the top & believe you should be the best & most profitable in choosen market & ingnor markets that you are either too far behind & can't make good money. Poo is way behind in 4s now & doo killing them in DI2S so they want to directly bang heads with Doo for DI2S market share & try to win back losses. To me this is too difficult due to prior poo 2s engine failures & I don't want DI2S from anyone over 4s. At this point I feel Poo is turning a blindeye to 4s market & don't care. Like Indy said Poo needs to wake up get on 4S ASAP.

At the fall 2009 Novi snow show I checked out the (then brand-new) Rush and talked to a Polaris engineer. I asked him why no 4S and he kept going on about the weight, packaging, etc. Said it was not what people wanted in that 'type' of sled. He was even very tight-lipped about the 2S/DI even though it's well-known that Pol has been fiddling with that technology for a while. If anything the guy seemed perturbed that I even asked about a 4S for the Rush.

Funny that they now have the Rush LX which is aimed at the high-mileage touring crowd. Wonder what kind of engine "that" type of rider would prefer....you guessed it, 4S.

I guess I don't quite get why a seemingly large majority on here is almost anti-2s. They're more fun! Lighter, less stuff to go wrong(though I don't ever hear much about problems with the 4s either) lighter, sound better, and lighter. In my experiences with riding with 1050 and 1100 yammies, they are usually only a gallon better at the pump than my gas-drinking 800 2s. I know, no $40 a gallon oil, but you do have to change it. I don't think there's really much difference on a cost basis. I know eventually I'll have no choice, because of environmentalist wackos, than to own a 4s. But for now, just waiting to see how the 2011 poo 800 holds up. Than an RMK Pro for me!:D
Just giving the old 2-strokes some self-esteem

Poo did buy Weber, its 4S supplier, so I'd be surprised if they aren't trying to improve in that area as well.

That's what I thought but Weber purchase is for ATVS not sleds. Only so much R&D money & Poo trying to stop DI2s bleed to Doo. If poo can not be #1 or 2 in DI2s sleds I think they will pull out too far behind in 4s & don't seem to care. We can't buy what they don't offer. Poo has eye squarely on Doo no one else.

2S DI's will be junk in 10 years no matter the miles. Poo needs to wake up.

Poo behind AC, Yam & Doo with 4s IQ FST. Doo, Yam & AC all exspected to move forward with new 4s line ups in 2012. Where does that leave Poo if they don't offer new 4s model 2012? Too late & out of it IMO.:(

Many new 1200 doo's out there and it looks like they may be in the game now. A couple of friends have just finished breaking in their 1200's and the reports are very good.

2 stroke fan here. Lighter for equivalent horsepower and that is not going to change. Chassis therefore probably smaller/lighter also. I hope to heck Poo and Cat make good DI 2 strokes so all brands can have competition to keep raising the bar. Better mileage, better oil consumption, less emissions all help to close in on 4 strokes while still maintaining the weight advantage. Also DI starts good enough there is really no reason for ever having electric start which again saves more weight. With EFI and good mapping there shouldn't be much of an excuse to run lean and not running a 2 stroke lean sure helps the life span and reliability of it.

Edit: I'll add that to me there is a market for both and therefore I think all but Yamaha will continue to make both for a while to come.

DI 2s ok but will not have same life as 4s. $10-15K for new sled the dang engine better last & not be problematic. Always will be DI2S application for mountain & powder. Then again 4s turbo can produce plenty of HP to overcome weight.

More EPA mandates take hold in 2012. I believe each mfg's 'fleet' has to meet newer and tighter regs. Yammi and 'Doo are already there. Both Pol and AC need to bump up their respective 'fleets' to conform. I can't see much in the way of ground breaking new tech from either Cat or Pol. Their efforts will be to clean things up a little for next year. Either that or Pol will build a whole bunch of their present 4 smokers and sell them cheaper to dilute their 2 smokers. I think Whitedust is correct in that we have come too far too fast and it is just about to the point that Pol will never get with the 4's program. The scary thing to me is that ALL 2's no matter how clean they have gotten could be banished with the stroke of a pen by some do-gooder legislator. Stranger things have happened.

They're probably trying to get a lot of the bugs worked out before they release the DI. They're working with Mercury on this. Mercury has a DI motor...I have one for my boat. It runs awesome!

I know that Doo has a LOT of problems with their 2010 Etec. Supposedly the 2011 is better but I sure wouldn't have wanted to be one of those guinea pigs.

Don't forget E 15. The new 2's are probably going to have to have a fuel select dial to adjust the timing to run whatever fuel is available. Premium/E10/E15. On the E15 setting an 800 will probably top out at about 85. Can't beat progress.

I would guess from Polaris you’ll see a lot of bold new graphics. A limited build direct injection, priced to high for anybody to consider buying one. Maybe another 5 more horse out of the FST’s. You’ll probably see a lot of new cool stuff on their 2012 side by sides.
