Debating on picking this model up for 4900 with around 1800 miles. Anyone know the reliability or any other helpful info on these machines?
Thanks

Rock solid, great starter sled and very good value, just doesnt have all the bells and whistles. if it is takin care of that engine will run almost indefinantaly.

No R-motion is the only real downfall.

I bought one for the wife to ride . I put clickers all around I picked up on line . has the same BS high rev BS most carb doos have . you give a quick flip of the choke and she comes back down . I up jetted and it took care of a lot of it. has a pretty hard throttle pull but you get use to it. it is a doo so it is or you will bend it if you look at it to hard . I would not give more than 4g for the thing . I don't think I kicked out 7g new in 14 for a 15 with a 3yr warranty. and with the winters we have had he should be happy to get 4g . and if it is a MXZ and not a gade I would not give him 4 . there are a billion of the MXZ carbs out there from rental fleets. also like all carbs PITA to summarize it and no place to attach bowl drains so you have to pull the carbs and they are a **** as is the airbox.
I regret buying a carb again . I had not owned one in over a decade . that said it is the only motor they build I trust for the long haul

Unless you have riding gear that will clash with a Polaris, I'd say go with a Poo 600 cleanfire FI.
Found a 2015 AXYS pro s with under 600 miles for 6900. The Indy 600's go for 1500 to 2000 less.

I have a 2012 Summit with the 600 carb motor. Owned it since new, never had a carb issue and the carbs have never been off. I use nothing but ethanol free though. No issues with the sled except under high powder conditions the DES system goes a little crazy (gage lights blink and speedo cycles from high to low rapidly ) I shut it down wipe snow away from the DES key and restart and usually clears up. I had the full skid plate on it since new to add protection for the modules but that was a pain and always filled up with ice. Took it off last season and if I hit anything, well that is why I have insurance.

No other issues original belt, plugs and hyfax. IMO----a good value sled if you don't want all the new tech stuff.

cant get one in a 136 though . that is why I went with the gade 6 for the wife . that and the included 3yr warranty built in trunk storage the cobra was a big selling point . also a boat load of blown doos parted out every yr so I knew real shocks were a dime a dozen for the gade. I also went in full knowing it was a tinfoil pile of disposable junk and insured accordingly with a policy and insurer separate from everything else I own

Had many of these sleds; best cheap sled and resale value "if purchased at the correct time of year". You should be able to buy a new leftover 17 with warranty in September for about $6,900.
If it was hauled on an open trailer I would pass as rust makes a sled go downhill quickly.
The only week spot on this sled is the rear motion control skid shock. It's likely out of oil already and NOT rebuildable. The motor, clutch etc. will go 10k miles with minor needs.

I put a Ski Doo HPG rear shock on my 600 Carb last year and it made a huge improvement - the stutter and small bumps were still comfortable and anti-bottoming was much better. Best $200 ever spent on a sled.

The 600 Carb is a great sled...can't go wrong. The Poo 600 is fugly -don't waste your money.

Anyways, passed my 600 carb on to my dad...

Yes, but the tail light you are used to seeing isn't it's best looking feature.

Thanks everyone. I went ahead and picked up this unit. May have overpaid at 4800 but the thing is in mint condition with elec start and reverse. Now I just need to stud it out and I will be ready for the winter.

IMHO best bang for your buck on that thing is keep a eye out for a set of decent skid shocks then some a arm shocks . pretty ez find lots of sleds with sc5 parted out
