2015 axys 800 switchback traction

I just went for my first ride on a new 2015 pro s axys 800 switchback I bought this fall my last sled was a 13 pro r switchback and to me there is a big difference in the way the sled handles. It might be just in my head but seems to me the front end digs in a ton especially compared to my last sled. Today every time I went across the road my rear end would spin never really had that problem before. I have just the standard 4" ware rods that come on the thing so that cant be issue I also noticed it in the looser snow didn't seem to hook up as well I have the 1.325 cobra track. I can't take anymore off of the back shocks already borderline on buttoming out. I realize that its made to hold tighter around corners which it does amazingly but was looking for tips someone has tried and had success with to lighten up the front end maybe its as simple as moving back on seat.

by back shocks both or just rear? the center shock can make a big diff in transfer with slight adjustments .I assume the switchback has transfer blocks? if so are they set tight or loose?
also are your fr shocks set up stiff or light?
setting up a sled takes some time and a lot of small adjustments.
I don't care as much on trail sleds now but I use to take a day or 2 just ridding a set hunk of trail making adjustments . well worth it on a new sled. thing is cant just pay some one to do it every one like there own thing.
set them all up in the shop pretty loose then go out start clicking up no big swings just small adjustments. and find a place with a lot of diff conditions and turns

remember if u don't bottom out from time to time u are prob not using your full range.

There are no transfer blocks on a Pro S, it's uncoupled. I'd go through the owners manual and set all of the clickers and the shock measurements to the factory setting and work from there. The front shocks might be adjusted with to much spring pressure.

Read the manual. There is great info on how to setup the Axys chassis. Yes you can more spring to the front track shock which will take away ski pressure. Sliding back on the seat will as well. There are minimums and maximum settings but one turn or two on the spring can make a huge difference. It takes a while to change and test but worth it in the end.

Thanks for the input I looked at the manual looks like I'll start with the front shock on skid and see what that does and go from there i havnt checked on skid yet but manual shows a limiter strap to adjust if need be I don't want to get too carried away I like a little ski lift but still like her to hang in the corners happy medium I'm sure I'll get her dialed in thanks again

One other thing I noticed, maybe its just cause it was my first 100 miles I put on the self but holy oil consumption compared to my 13 I'm not complaining I didn't yhink y 13 used enuf but I used double the oil easy plus had a quart in the tank

The oil pump enrichment period is 18 hours. The 800 HO’s eventually will get around 100-125 miles per quart.

Nope shes electronic. My 16 uses more than my 15 though. My 15 was almost as stingy as the etec I ride with. Oil and gas. My 16 is using more oil and more gas than the etec this year. Out of break in. I think you will find oil consumption will level off after the first 2-3 hours. Total break in time is 18 hrs on the tach though.

I have a 2015 and a 2016 800 HO Switchback. The 2015 is getting much better fuel mileage and oil mileage then the 2016 so far. The 2015 has 2800 miles and the 2016 has 700 miles. I hope the 2016 improves soon.

With your 15 at 2800 miles have you had to have your exhaust valves cleaned yet? I am just curious so I know when to expect that also have you had to mess with the adjustable bushings on front end at all?

Talked my dealer about the valves a few weeks ago. They said whatever you do don’t take them apart to clean them. It involves hooking them up to a computer and reprograming them once you take them apart. He told me they were self cleaning and not to worry??? Don’t know anything about the bushings, just checked the front end last weekend and everything appears tight. I did have to install a new battery, it was turning over really slow in sub zero conditions. Did a compression test and that was good. So far the sled has no major issues.

how do these newer liberty's power valves look? how can u need to reprogram a hard part?
I just cant imagine how they are working. do they have some sort of position sensor but even then cant figure it out.
not saying dealer is blowing smoke just trying to figure it out

The mechanic at the dealer I go to told me same thing not to mess with them that I would have a code pop up that they needed to be cleaned said that he knew a couple guys that had 1000 miles on and hadnt had to clean them so I was just curious with 2800 if they needed it glad to hear no problems. They showed me the front arms have adjustable bushings so if they loosen up over time you can adjust them.

Not exactly sure how they work but I definitely will not miss cleaning mine

I was tightening up my front shock on rear skid and noticed I have only one limitor strap is that the norm or am I missing one I will call dealer in morning

The valves are electronic now as well. With an acutator pulling a cable to activate the valve. My thought is being they are controlled by cable they can get dirtier than the old system and still perform. You can take them apart to clean without having to "re learn" the valve just dont disconnect the cable from the valve or the actuator.

Cleaned mine at 3800 miles. They were not as gunked up as i recall my 03 Yamaha Viper valves.
I didn't mess with the actuator but took the valves completely off the motor to soak them and also took a little soft scraping.

As far as traction, I think more preload on the FTS is the key to add weight transfer. I think the range is 1.5" to 1.875"
Also, some say that shock is too soft for bigger riders.
