I have been amused at reading this thread!

How did this turn into a Momoney brand loyalty debate and who has the best MTN sled...The original post is about a third party XRS review.

Did you miss this in the original post?

"The suspensions swallow the terrain with ease and give you the confidence that you are riding the best there is"

It's gotta be the best if it "swallows" the terrain. Now can you guys finally understand the hype? Also , now that we have been informed who has the best, let's go buy the best. Snowtech magazine says so, so it's gotta be true. Some people can only go by this information and do indeed buy,,,wink wink momoney :p

lol, that is funny. Remember how many times I keep loosing mine rolling down the hill? Finally I put it in my storage bag and never put it back on. Now it lays in the rafters in my garage

I dont buy based on that even tho I think ur jokin with me, but do enjoy reading and hearing it haha. Whole family rides skidoo and everyone I ride with on trips as well. Family has prolly owned over 100 doos since 1970s. We kno and feel most comfortable with rotax engines and all the other skidoo parts. The garage is basically all skidoo. So, u can understand why im brand loyal haha. Plus its hard not to feel really good about the current products, from 4 stroke to mountain its their best and most complete lineup they have ever offered.

But def recognize the market is super competitive and not much separates them all. Its truly about personal preference if ur not loyal to a brand haha. By the way 87 days until trails open.

I was joking with you! If you and your crew even come through Greenland, look me up prior and I'l take you guys off trail and do what ever type of riding you would like and we can have a ball. I'm glad you love your sleds and have had good success. Nice debating with you bud!

One thing interesting you brought up was fuel economy. There's a mile long thread on snowest comparing 800 etec and 800 pro fuel mileage sounds like when you really hammer on the etecs gas mileage plummets. Guys in the mountains struggled to get 6mpg where most guys on pros get around 8 in the mountains. I experienced this firsthand in the UP watching my buddy put more fuel in his 11 etec than my carbed Polaris 600. Trail riding there's no cparison his etec got great mileage when it stayed on the trails. Just some food for thought...

If that's true, it's probably because the Doo 800 has 25 more hp than the Poo 800, so when you are hammering it, you are using all that. Not that anyone cares about mileage off trail anyway...hard to burn more than a tank a day in the powder.

On a dyno stock to stock is less than a 10 HP difference.

from what I have been told the etec really makes its money In fuel savings from about 4-5000 rpms and less. Once it gets over those RPMs it is essentially the same fuel usage as a PTEK 800R, maybe a hair better. But under that RPM range the injection really saves the fuel where the carb will keep pouring it in. And is why the etec is great on trail gas savings vs offtrail. Supposedly the design of the etec 2 is better gas usage throughout the whole RPM range.

old man dave had a few 121's that were surprisingly good for logging roads and not to steep because the machines are so light, ski doo always has had the best stock ski IMO

4-5000 rpms?...lol.... too bad no sled gets ridden in that range.

Well, anytime your off the throttle your under that, and anytime your idling. Thats when the etec saves fuel. And it may even be slightly higher than that maybe 5500. When we fill up from trail riding a ptek 800 alot of times is within a gallon of the 800etec. When we ride hard its closer, when we putz around with the old timers its more.

Lenny I was told this by someone who had a hand in designing the 800r ptek engine. Which is essentially the 800etec with a different fuel delivery, mechanical carb vs fuel injection as we all know. The cylinders are virtually identical. As a matter of fact when I was looking into doing a big bore, I could use ptek cylinders on the etec.
