deff a big rush taking one down 660

Talk about dropped on the head, this from people talking about a 20k sled as an investment?
This is NOT an investment, rather just the opposite, it will be worth 5 grand less after year one, if you are lucky! As I said a fool and his money are soon parted. I'd rather have the 20 g's added to my asset base and watch the portfolio move up 2-3 grand a day like the last six months in this bull market. There are a plethora of fish to bust balls on around here. Have at it about great investments in sleds while I fart thru silk in a couple short years. Bring it.

a investment in fun.
and some guys have enough cash that 20k on a toy is no big deal and really it is not. keeping all your cash in this bull market is only fun until the bottom drops out again. remember that fun? in a few short yrs really hope U are well diversified or that silk could turn used goodwill in a blink

Right...by my calc I could buy about 75 of those, but the reason I have that asset base is because I don't invest it foolishly.
To me this is a fools game, which is why I'll search for a bit for the best deal on a 2nd sled.
And don't make a fool of yourself lecturing me about the perils of market corrections.
I can assure you I'm well diversified in all asset types to mitigate the effects of changes in market direction.
Stick to what you know best - wrenching on your failing AC's. LOL
Tomorrow I'll check out TS and see what ridiculous prices they have.
First ride tomorrow - yes finally.
Sleds are fun, but on my fun-o-meter they are a long way below a hot woman.
Everyone has their priorities.

I have pissed away unimaginable amount of cash on sleds in my life I will continue to piss away piles of cash on them .
in the end when I am sitting in the home with a diaper full of chit and piss drooling down my gown I will at least have the priceless memory's. I really have a hard time remembering the high return investments I have made in life deff have to think about it for a min.
I still remember every sled I have totaled or blown up and the events leading up to and after the event.

Some people enjoy leaving diversified portfolios to their kids. Some people enjoy living life. To each their own!

Investment as in compared to 2 stroke with multiple rebuilds over time, come on stay with us. No one's dumb enough to think sled as way build wealth.

Right...by my calc I could buy about 75 of those

And there's plenty of people that could buy 200. Heck, my step daughter and fiancee just 3 years out college pull in close to 200k each. And I'm sure they spend (waste) it on dumber stuff than a snowmobile.
For most of us its balancing act saving future but having fun now. If I made the coin I would have no problem putting that sled in my garage!!!!

Personally both my wife and I are happy with the priorities we have and memories we are making by the way we spend the amount of "fun" money we feel is discretionary. Honestly, once you pay for food, shelter, and clothing everything else is "fun" money and I'd rather spend it on sleds than I would on "a hot woman".

I have a friend who is a CFO, he bought a brand new sled a few years back, it was the first time he owned a sled. After he bought it, snowmobiling was never as much fun for him. He sold it 3 years later. When we talked about it he said he just couldn't get the ROI he expected out of it. That was the problem right there. If someone judges "fun" in the same way they judge investments chances are they will never truly leave their cares behind and just have fun.

I think we got off course. Saving is fun but if watching your money grow if you idea of living, then you're on the wrong forum.

If you look up the word addiction, theres a link to this thread as an example.:D

In all seriousness though, everyone has the line in the sand, camel straw, etc. Everyone we used to ride with has gotten out of the sport many years ago. My wife and I have taken a break from snowmobiling ourselves. What was meant to be a year or two hiatus, has become several years. We'll ride around the house if we get snow and I'll tinker with my vintage sleds, but thats about it. Unfortunately we've also become less active in club activities too. We just haven't got to the point of closing the door and turning off the lights, yet. One thing I've got to say as an ex snowmobile addict, and I can't stress this enough, you'll never notice how expensive this sport is until you get out of it. ;)

what it really comes down to is location of motor mass and rider mass. Right now we are in the evolution of the "manageable 4s boondocker" and great progress has been made with this particular set up. In my opinion we do a great injustice to compare the days of old Yamaha 4s tech to this Cat chassis.

No doubt motor is further back than any Yamaha designed chassis and rider is closer to drive shaft. There will be a day when the magic sweet spot will be had. The submarine comment is not even close anymore as this is a totally different machine. Some people will see a Yamaha name and directly compare it to the RX1. I have ridden a Cat turbo for many miles and the feel is light, steering light. Progress is being made and at the same time we need to not keep out mind lagging behind.

That day is already here. It's called AXYS.

Yes, I am referring to 4s. It's tough with a 4s to accomplish but Cat has done a wonderful job with the 1100 turbo. My good friends Steve and his wife kelly own a 1100 turbo and we worked on it a little in my garage today and I was totally impressed with the engineering of this sled. The spark plugs are directly under the handle bars, chain case by middle of foot and oil tank in front or right toes, simply amazing. This is exactly why the steering is light like a 2s and superb handling. I really need to ride OMDaves new Gade 1200 to campare but I think they both are awesome machines. Now we have THE first performance 4s in Mtn set up and a seriously good chassis with Chads creation. No doubt the bar is being raised. This is all evolution in the making and scowling at it is not justified. We will probably never see a equal handling 4s to 2s Mtn sled because of the sheer weight differences but major progress is being made and just think what we will experience in 5 more years.

Keep up the good work Chad!
