I knew the sport had changed. Not this bad though. However I will adapt. The next time I meet up with some retard that is all mad because he cannot perform a simple procedure to continue on his way I will gladly offer said fool one half the value to take the horrible product off his hands. I come from the day when we changed out pistons and tracks when it was 10 below. Under a yardlight after the bars closed. For the most part the present day so called snowmobiles are a bunch of helpless lightweights. You can be grateful that the guys that invented these things were not of that attitude. They would be scratching their heads wondering what happened to their sport. If a spark plug wire fell off in the middle of nowhere you would exert more energy trying to figure who to blame than fixing the problem.
you are also missing the FACT that the price of sleds today are a LOT more than they used to, so at the prices they cost now, you shouldn't have these trivial issue's like COLD issues starting ona snowmobile

lets also NOT forget that years ago, getting to a motor or a spark plug for that matter was SIMPLE, the WHOLE sled was SIMPLE so any idiot COULD work on them
NOT today, just getting to a spark plug on a 7000 series sled is a 4+ hr job (based on CAT"S charging scale)
yrs back in 4 hours you could pull a motor and just about rebuild it and stick it back in
BIG difference than working on today's machine
you want to call folks names cause they DON"T want to work on a sled they bought NEW that has little use or miles on it, and suggesting this is NOT a issue , is about as dumb as one can be
MAYBE you like spending money on JUNK and then having to FIX it, but me
I prefer to buy something new and for it to work as EXPECTED and marketed by the maker

HOW many relays on them 70-80-90 sled you worked on so much went bad from being in the cold??
I bet the answer is NONE, so, you think the new one'\s today should fail?? or is that backwards design here??
and that a person should have to remove them, modify a fuse box so you can get to them to WARM then to ride a machine designed to work in the cold??
and that's an acceptable thing?? for something costing 10 plus grand??
its folks like you that bend over and willingly TAKE it, and just FIX yourself that allow company's to get away with making more and more costly JUNK!
company's today should be ashamed with the products they turn out and charge us for IMO
NAME One thing that is really worth what you paid for it today?
from a gallon of milk, to vehicles to clothes
ALL over priced for what you get
INFLATION, sure has some thing to do with costs, but quality??
modern machine today and testing ability's , we should have BETTER longer lasting better made products than ever
BUT we DON"T, and again its in part to folks that TAKE ot and fix on there own, NOT making company's make it better from the get go!
RANT OVER! LOL

Just checking in. Went for a little ride today. About 250 miles. It was 5 below and really windy. Tough to see. Went anyway. I guess if a person pays a lot of money for something nothing should ever go wrong. Left hotgrip wasn't keeping up. Kept going. Did not call dealer or manufacturer. Remember when us fossils would turn off hotgrips to get a brighter headlight. Gas mileage off a little today. Did not file a claim with the better business folks. Hit a big bump and flew way up in the air. Did not call groomers up to complain. Went to a bar and it was closed. Did not call county commisioners to complain. We do not live in a no fault world. Never have. This fossil will always get miles on. Even if my multi thousand dollar vehicle fails me in some small way. I can understand those of you that become dumfounded over the smallest little thing. It would suck to be so inept. But I am lucky not to be so. I have over 4000 miles on this season. In low snow conditions. With a 15 grand machine that came with crappy skis. The fossil is the future. Not a bunch of lightweight posers.

Grub; you are probably one of the few that can remember running the coolant up into the modified handle bars to keep warm. 2 bleed ports to get the all air out. It took awhile to get them warmed up, but it worked! Frozen face, and hands very common of CC racing in the good old days!!! Maybe those days is part of my back problems today??? I have been telling a good friend of mine for years, that we are just a couple of dinosaurs trying to survive in today's world!!! You are not a fossil yet, as you are still alive, and sound well!!!!!!! Any recommendations on Minne riding???

must be nice to be dumb enough to not care about having to spend more of the money YOU work for to fix something that you paid for to work and NOT care
Lucky you
maybe the rest of us don't like spending extra money to have to fix something we bought that was said to work !
or maybe this Simple thing is too much for you to understand
as you Fossil like wasting your time and money to fix things you bought!
I personally don't
I live in a world where I expect ALL thing in time to get wear and tear and even fail
BUT I don't expect or accept things designed to work in the snow and cold,
FAIL from cold, that is piss poor design and testing from the factory, IF they screwed up, they should correct
IF I screw up
I don't expect others to FIX my mistakes! maybe I just understand responsibility better of what a GOOD person?company SHOULD do!

LOVE to see you come live where I do and get as much seat time in! without COSTING you a fortune traveling!
MY local(1.5 hrs away) trails have been legally open just 4 days this whole winter, next set of trails is 4+ hrs away
think I enjoy having down time on my sled when I get SNOW here? that is here 2-3 days IF I am lucky and GONE for weeks if even ever again the season?(trails were only open 2 days last yr and conditions were POOR to say the least)
maybe you live where riding is more often and some down time doesn't effect you as it does other
maybe you don't think of what others do to ride sleds, love to know how many folks would stay in a sport if they couldn't ride often or at all each yr?
or what about folks with health conditions that cannot physically spend time working on there machine, all the more so trail side< ever think of this??

SO, MAYBE , don't knock what maybe you don't understand, being so FOSSIL like minded that you are, maybe you should try broadening your mind a little!
most of us live ina modern world you know? LOL

I wouldn;t agree here, seems more and more like models are having the issue as again it seems to be a time deal, after some time goes by and temps drop, they seem to only act up
what if your out in VERY cold temps, stop to eat and things DON"T fire up??
spend a few hours at a place taking a break and its more than possible for things to get as cold as a cold morning start of!
I ordered the new relays for mine, will add them in off season
cannot hurt to try that , but sucks, as again these are COLD weather toys, the bugs should be worked out before selling them, and or FACTORY fixes should be offered for them
not like these are cheap toys to buy ??
but again, most companys IMO really could care less about AFTER the sale, far too many live by the saying
" A SUCKER IS BORN EVERY MINUTE"
and they view all customers as replaceable IMO!
sad but true!
unless a lawyer forces them to stand behind there products or fear of law suits, they leave you on your own! and fight you before giving up a penny after a sale!

agree
