Probably the dealer who has too much left over inventory would be my guess??? Sink or swim, cut your losses, or whatever???

I think this is a good idea for Polaris. The point here is this is a learners sled. From the factory it is limited to 50mph via the ECM and can be changed when the young rider builds experience. The 5200 MSRP is not a bad starting point, we all would like a less expensive sled for the kids, for this is the first offering from the big four. I would rather buy this than one of the el-cheap-0 Chinese 3/4 sleds that have started floating around.

M&M was advertising them for $5200 sp for $6050 looks like the standard might be all gone now, not suprising those are awesome prices for those things. My wife has a 14 that she loves

This is very cool, I like some of the things we are seeing for the future generations of snowmobilers. Seems right in line as far as a step up in size and price from the ZR200/Snoscoot sleds.

Yep, the Freestyle. Doo thought they would create a segment but it flopped as heavy discounted leftover higher end models were a few dollars higher. Depreciation of the entry level sleds was actually higher than buying a leftover higher end sled in the end.
When you are in Marketing and have no good ideas, you buy yourself time by rolling out any idea even if they are flops as the marketeer that tries nothing is fired sooner than later.

From what I have heard the 200 Yamicats are a huge success. I think they sold for about $3800 and there were none that got sold for much less. Around here anyway. Very high demand. So $5200 for the next step is about right. There is no question that some 'real' sleds can be had for only a few dollars more. Both new and used. But the 'real sleds' go 90mph. The idea of a sled with limited top end is very appealing to the parents of 8 year olds. I think the EVO is a great idea. The Freestyle was about the only thing 'Doo has missed on in the last 15 years. It was still a sled an adult could ride. Apparently that is not what the public wants.

Interestingly enough the fastest growing segment of John Deere is the overgrown lawnmower/utility tractors for private use. These things start at about $30000 and can get up to $100000 if you get all the attachments and toys. And that is what they are is a big toy. But there is a demand for them and you can be sure John Deere is making money on them. Who knows maybe the Sled mfgrs will get in a huge mini-sled competition. After all you can only sell so many 850s and Sidewinders. Lots more kids whos grandparents can afford a $5200 dollar toy.

Ski stance is adjustable.
The EVO has
a full sized track, suspension, skies, shocks, pegs, engine, clutches,....etc.
Just narrowed and lowered.
Still bigger than most sleds built 25 years ago....LOL

Anyway this is just my opinion....is Polaris officially describing it a 3/4 size sled?

Polaris describes it as a sled for those with 'smaller hands'

I like the price, too bad it doesn't have a coded key like skidoo to control hp output. Hopefully the other oem's follow

Snobuilder - yes there are a lot of big sled features. It has suspension. But only four inches in front and an advertised 8 inches of travel in the back which is probably shock travel. The actual travel will be much less. It has reverse and electric start. Not many sleds of 25 years ago had reverse or electric start. It has a big fuel tank which is good so Dad only has to fill it once a day if that. It uses a 121 track which is good so it doesn't get stuck all the time like so many mini sleds. But it is not something you or I would choose to go on a 100 mile trek. It is being promoted for YOUTH. Which is great. Get them hooked with creature comforts like reverse and electric start. Make it fun. Polaris made the Indy Lite years ago and that was for kids. Before that Polaris made the TC. Also for kids. This is just the latest incarnation. They have Kitty Cat races and they have 120 class races. I am sure there will soon be 200 class races if there aren't already and now there will be EVO races. It is a wonderful idea. Get the younger generation into it. Actually it would be an absolute riot to get 5 or 6 guys my age to buy them and ride together. Kind of Wild Hog style. I can see the forums now - Best studding pattern for an EVO???

Plus, unlike other lower cost entry level sleds, these actually look cool!
