600 Etek how reliable

Found a good price (I think ) on an 09 Etek Gade. How dependable is the Etek? The only reason I ask is according to a service manager at (name withheld) dealership they have 3 different 09 Eteks that continue to return to the shop with problems. Something about engine codes and the exhaust valves carboned up, plugs fouling etc. This is the first I've heard of any problems with is this engine.

Any owners having any problems?

I have a '09 adrenaline e-tec with 1000 miles on it so far. Haven't had any problems. I'm very happy with the performance and especially the mileage and oil usage. I average 18-20 mpg and just finished my first gallon of oil (250 miles per quart), not bad. The XP chassis is awesome too.

we have 2 09 gades with about 1000 each, no problems. Though the 1st ride of the season we saw one who had burned down with 2 miles on it in twin lakes.. Guys just drove from the twin cities and poof.. Bet there was an oil line air bubble or something. we have got close to 800 / gallon of oil and 15 to 21 mpg depending on speed mainly

That sounds like faulty electronics etek not burning clean. I suspect there will be a few eteks that will have systematic electronic problems that are flakey & difficult to fix. At least engine did not burndown. Whole new world for 2s injected engines & techs that fix them.

Have a 09 Gade, no problems at all. Best sled I have ever owned. Been Riding 30 yrs and have owned all brands. Most of the time I buy new every 2 yrs, I'll be keeping this a while, can't find anything better.

My Dad said..."Technology is a great thing until it fails". On our first trip of the year, we blew up a XRS 600 @ 271 miles. It was still getting broke in. My friend traded it instantly, and bought a 800 Adrenaline P-Tek. Without ever finding out what went wrong ????? There is a lot of spin on these both ways. Too hot for me to spend my money on. That sled was not being beat or abused. I own a 800 P-Tek and don't expect to be buying a E-Tec in the near future. This technology that works well in the marine enviroment might still need some de-bugging before it's bullet-proof in ours. ( IMO )

We have 3 09 Eteks in our Group, all have had some Electonic issues like Flashing lights. Skidoo has fixed everything including a new Short Block in one after it came apart with 8000 Miles on it.

We have extended Warantee's on 2 of them because we ride a little more than the average. Mine only has 4000 Miles so its finally broke in.

Mileage and Oil consumption depends on how much your on the Throttle. if you Ride hard figure 13 MPG/125 per QT if you take it easy 18 MPG/175 per QT.

I also have a new 4TEK and both Engines are good and I could not recommend one over the other. Cost to operate either is about the same.

Am I reading this correctly?? Everyone I talk to that has an e tek are reporting a lot better fuel milage and oil consumption. In fact one girl I know that will outride just about anyone just broke the cap on her second gallon on oil and she has almost 1000 miles on it, and that is with the break in time also. (more oil used at that time)

I rode with two etechs two weeks ago. I have a 01 xcsp 600 I know it is old but evytime I would fill up it would be about 8 gallons to there 4. I did have a broken exhaust bellow which may have made my milage a little worse but it was still 1/2 the fuel.

etec

I have a etec gade with 2,500 miles on it, 0 problems best running engine ever. I own a 600 Clasic and a Rage. only ride the etec now. Ride hard about 18 per gallon, ride easy 21-22 per gallon once got 26 per gallon. It gets better miliage with 93 fuel run 87 at 2 miles per gallon less. teh best part is much lighter sled easier to move around in garage and at gas pumps. That's why I leave the rage for my son to use.

Ditto on Jakerides fuel numbers. I have 2800 mi. on my gade now with no problems at all. Love the sled and motor so much we purchased an 09Adrenaline for my wife this year. Have 400 miles on that sled so far with no issues. Also have friend with 2 09 e-tecs that have not been in the shop yet. Been a Polaris rider past 34 years and not been sorry on switch. XP chassis fun to ride.

Oh Indy, you have sooooo many years of sledding left so you can change your mind. LOL.

I have been a Poo guy since 1998 and have had no complaints. I did ride the 2010 Renagade two weeks ago when I went to pick up the truck. I through a stud go through my heat exchanger. It was for about 8 mile of really rought trails and I have to say that the suspenion was exellent way different than my edge.
I however can never buy a Ski doo (Ski-donkey) for the simple reason the my brother inlaw thinks they are the greatest sleds ever (he owns one) along with the great trucks ever a(Dodge) and the greatest 4 wheels ever the (Polaris)
So I can not give him the satisfaction of buy a skidoo but I really did like the ride and the headlights were about 200 times better than my Polaris I have to say it was a very nice sled.
I am sure many of you may have similar stories but I think I am going to stick with the POO out of spite.

My Son left Merrill last Friday at 11am and pulled into Houghton at 9pm. 260 Miles, he used .4 of a Gallon of Oil and got around 14 Mpg with a Renegade ETEK. I know it sounds like bad Mileage, but they stopped 1 Hour for Lunch and twice for Gas. The rest of the time it must have been wide open. If you Ride a ETEK hard it uses Fuel and from what I have seen there all the same. My GTX usually gets around 16 but I weigh 325 and have lots of Gear. I also do not Ride that hard unless I am trying to keep up with the Boys then I drop down to 13MPG.

I have gotten up to 21 but that was perfect conditions and not exceeding 40 MPH, just to see how good of mileage was possible.

Also, even if they don't get as good of mileage as some think they should. I have ran my Friend and his Polaris out of Gas a couple of times and that makes my Day when I have to Pump some Gas in his Sled out of mine.
