I am looking at a 2008 700 switchback and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the 700, good or bad. All I know is it was not around long at all, so this makes me a little nervous. Thanks in advance.

Lousy early I.Q. armstrong steering, but the motor is bullet prooooof. The 144 will keep your rump from hurting and does decent in all but the super deep stuff.

I ride with a guy with one he is around the 2k mark just a few minor issues with electronic box all cheep fast fixes that never ended a trip early just flashing lights.but don't be surprised when a 600 passes you on the lake and don't expect to ever see triple digits on the speedo.with a 2in or 1 3/4 verry capable boon docker

I had one for 1 1/2 seasons. I bought it brand new and sold it with 3K miles and a full rebuild under extended warranty. I had problems with the tail light bulb burning out, it ate oil, and burned down eventually in Houghton. I liked the sled, excellent ride with the 136 but at the end of the day, it left me stranded. This is just my $.02 contact me if you have any real specific questions. Good Luck.

I currently own this sled. My older brother rode it for 2 seasons and I bought it off of him and have put 400 miles on it this season. My previous sled was an '05 700 xcsp. So an abbreviated list of what I "upgraded" to in getting this sled was fuel injection, a 136" track with a taller lug, and the front a-arms (last but not least). I absolutely love the sled. Rides well, never had a problem with the motor (3K miles) and is a perfect setup for me with my riding style and the trails my group travels. I would recommend it to anyone.

A lot of the talk over on snowest was of all the polaris guys' frustration Polaris discontinued the 700 in RMK line with all the recent problems the 800s had been experiencing.

I've never heard of much trash talk regarding the 700, and is a safe buy, IMO.

Gotta watch the intake boots on all Polaris sleds. My 08 700 burned down because of the boots. Warranty covered it. I have 6800 hard miles on mine now. Motor was done at 2400 miles, replaced 1 idler wheel bearing at 5200 miles. That is all I have had to fix on my sled. I redid the clutching. Before it was slow, same speed as my brothers 600. Now I outrun 150hp class sleds up to 100mph. I have never did a top speed run, but I have hit 107mph. BTW mine is a 121" track. With a little fine tuning, the 700s are very fast sleds. Mine gets anywhere from 10-13mpg depending on how I drive. It uses a good amount of oil, but it is adjustable, but I use the cheap Polaris oil and dont really care about oil consumption.

Good motors, but you gotta check the intake boots often. I dont have any experience with the 136" track or suspension.

The reason why Polaris dropped the 700 is because the 600s are so strong, and they came out with the 800s, there wasnt really a need for the 700 anymore.

Oh one last thing, gotta seal up the headlight and airbox, all IQ chassis sleds sucked in ALOT of snow dust. Easy fix, takes 20 mins. and $5.
