true you can trade in your 1/2ton trippel for a 3/4ton 4stroke all have ther place but the thunders are even getting few and far between on the ice drags and radar runs
There aren't many ZRT's or Thunders around here either. A lot of times the countershaft bearings go away because they had a poor system for lube. They take out the case when they go and then you are screwed. If ever there was a case for fogging an engine the big AC triple triples were a prime example. Very very strong in their day. Got off a T-Cat in 2001 for a ZR 800 twin. Not the same kind of sled at all but loved that 800. Might well be the best all around sled I ever had.

Im still on the fence about selling my 95 storm 800 triple, triple, It's got an m-10 136 in her now. The way this season is headed, Looks like the only riding will be on Ice. Thinking about putting the 8" susp back in & lake racing her.
MMMM What to do?
well old school carb NOS systems are going cheep now days in the swap sections. a 80hp shot some short shocks and some chisels in that 136 you can be a competitor on most lakes.the carb systems are kind of a pain to set up but still only a 4 or 5 hr job.and big grins with the happy button all winter.and why not what are the old toys worth any ways? may as well try to kill it your self, way more fun than spending that 1500 bucks you could sell it for on bills

the 650 XLT engines with individual heads were fine, it is when they went to the unihead design (one pc. top end) is when they started having issues.
I think its the other way around! The monos were the better ones, the single cyl were bad. Too much flex in the case causing weakness and the crank would flex enough to blow the rods out the side.
