Gus was rushed to Iowa State University Vet College for a mylagram. Diagnosed with Wobblers Syndrome. That is when there is a kink in the spinal cord that won't send messages to the rear end of what to do. The first signs of this are when the dog walks like he is drunk, swaying his back end. They wanted to do surgey for about 7 thousand! We had had another Doberman that had Wobblers and Dr Gary VanEngelenburg had treated him. So off to DesMoines we went. Gus was completely down. He had one acupuncture treatment, brought him home and the next day he was in the house alone and got up and walked to the bedroom! For the following days we had to help him up and when we went back for his second treatment he walked in on his own! Still a little wobbly, we did acupunture once a week for a month, then twice a month for a couple months, then once a month for "tune ups". He was also on chinese herbal pills. Our dog Reba did the splits on the kitchen floor and could not get up on her own. Found a vet in Ashland and was diagnosed with sponylosis (a boney bridge that formed in her spine) She had acupuncture done and was on her feet again. She is also on the herbal pills as she had torn her ACL years ago. The website for Iowa Veterinary Acupuncture Clinic is
