Air Tools with an 8 Gallon Compressor

I am going to breakdown and get some air tools but I know virtually nothing about them. I do not have a lot of money to spend and my compressor is only 8 gallons. It can provide 4.2 CFM output at 90 PSI. When I pick out a 1/2 inch impact gun (or any air tool for that matter) do I just need to get one that is states in can deliver the advertised torque at a CFM of 4.2 or lower at 90 PSI? Lowes has one adverised to deliver at torque of 360 at 4.0 CFM at 90 PSI. Is it that simple?

that compressor is too small. it will be trying to catch up all the time. get a 30-40 gallon unit .then buy Chicago Pneumatic tools. I've had excellent results with this brand.
any mechanics care to chime in on this???

I also suggest CP air tools. As far as the compressor, yes you will be waiting for the compressor often but the samll ones catch up fast. Depending on your use like such as just changing tires or breaking something loose it might work alright if you are not looking to break speed records. Anything more demanding such as a grinder/cutoff wheel/air ratchet I dont think it would be able to hack it. Thats my $.02

why don't you put that air compressor to good use! a kid at my school made a snow making machine with an air compressor, a power washer, some piping and a little bit of welding. he took a Y-Pipe (not a snowmobile y-pipe) and welded one shut and the other he welded close to shut. he had little tiny holes that let out mist and when it hit the ground, it froze. he's a snowboarder and made a 45 foot long strip that's 6 feet deep in one night. i don't quite understand how it works but it does!

a butterfly wrench ratchet small tools will work but impact wont work great I use one sometimes with my small comp.good for like 1 lag bolt 3/4 the way in for a deck rim re coup and finish.also works for things like taking off lawnmower blades basic 1 or 2nut jobs.the thing is set your pressure.adding more pressure is just wasting air the tool will just blow it out and comp will have to work harder to catch up.

I have one of this little dewalt 1 or 2 gallon compressors and change my tires on my race car with it all the time sure it takes a second for it to catch up after 5 lug nuts but it beats the heck out a 4 way. I would say go for it as long as you arent a full time wrencher.
