Any happy sledding stories on this site?

I've been a long-time poster and reader of this site. Something has happened IMHO. Why all the negativity? We have good snow, and every other thread is about how bad the DNR is...how bad other riders are...etc. I used to come to this site to enjoy the sport/past time that I love. Now I leave here depressed.

Sooooo...anybody have fun, happy, good stories about sledding? Let's get this site back to a positive, pro-sledding discussion board!

The snow in Western Wisconsin is a gift from God. The trails have been open pretty much all year. My kids are remembering what it is like to actually ride without trailering, and the conditions are perfect. Sorry to say the UP isn't getting the same amount of tourist dollars, but the small business around Western Wisconsin needed alot of help too, especially after many bad snow years.

We have very happy guests that make us happy with their stories. Nothing like people on vacation, enjoying themselves! Good times for all

Wait all year to ride and have been able to ride almost every other weekend this year with friends, son and his friends. It's been awesome. Haven't hit any "bad" trails and almost all have been excellent. That, in my opinion is incredible considering the lack of "system" snows to keep many central and southern Wisconsin trails in less than great condition. When that happens everyone heads to the UP snow belts and the traffic goes way up. Just 8-10 years ago that meant "almost" guaranteed miles and miles of moguls and poor riding conditions. Sometimes we would cut our trip short. Not anymore, the groomers/clubs have been doing outstanding work keeping the trails in the best condition possible considering most of the clubs in the northern Wisconsin/southern UP are working with what I call slushy (the drink) type snow. The worst I saw was trail 8 west of Chatham, MI and trail 3 by Twin Lakes, MI at the end of the day (very high traffic areas) and even then it was maybe slightly less than good. For those of us fortunate enough to have newer sleds, these trails conditions don't effect the rider like they used to.

Heading up Sunday and looking forward to it.

Less than 300 miles so far this season, but considering where I was at in October, I feel like the luckiest man alive!

While my work has been keeping me off the trails more than I would like, we did have an great backpacking ride from Crandon WI to Watersmeet to the casino. Then up thru Bond Falls, Bruces, Mass, over to Lanse, up to Big Bay and down to Ishpeming. From there it was down to Gwin, over to Republic, down to Amasa, then to Iron River. Next day back to the Forest county trails and back to Crandon. We had a hard time in Forest county because at evey intersection we came to we had to decide which fresh groomed trail to ride on with absolutely no sled tracks on them. Total round trip was 602 miles. Six good friends and trails that were between a 9 & 10 the whole way. Great job groomers and thank you for your work. Back to Green Bay in time for the Super Bowl...perfect 4 day weekend.

P.S. Started with 8 sleds but lost two in Phelps due to a burn down and a jack shaft bearing failure..........both Yammies.......Sorry snobuilder.......

great weekend

A couple of things, got a call from a stranger over the weekend complimenting our snowmobile club’s trails and they were sending the club a gift certificate to show their appreciation.

The next one is I took my future Son-in-law who is a pilot in the air force for his first ride ever on a sled last weekend and he liked it a lot. He did say his C130 seemed a little faster off the line than the 600 Shift.

Well, we have had 3 trips so far to the UP this winter, and all has been good. leaving again for Paradise tomorrow.

Then on March 3rd, I think we are going riding in Ontario for a few days.

Great to get out and enjoy the snow!!

There is so much snow around here we will probably still be riding in April. When I get more sled time than boat time that is the definition of a good year.

Sorry for the brief thread hijack, but please give him my thanks for his service!

This last weekend I took a very close friend out for his very first ride ever. Talk about excited, he was it!! Took a while to get him all geared up, and spent awhile in an open field for him to feel the sled out. I still can see the smile on his face, boy was he excited. We only road about 40 miles, but to him it felt like 100.
