Had a Blast

Third trip up this year - last weekend was the best! Trails were fantastic; met lots of nice people, ate great food and had a wonderful time with my husband! Thanks to all the groomers who kept the trails great! Hopefully can get ONE more trip in this year!! :)

Having both my daughters (ages19 and 13) keep asking when we can go and ride again. Nothing better than seeing the smile on their face when I say we can go for a ride and then at the end of every ride they say thank-you dad for taking me. It certainly makes you forget about all your troubles for awhile.

Got a new toy in the toy shed. Retired the RMK and picked up a Snowhawk. Let me just say that the backcountry will never be the same. This thing is a blast to ride!!!

Ive got tons of stories and picture but over last couple of years have been afraid to post on here. Almost always starts some sort of negative comments and posts. We rode safely for 3 days in the U.P. this past weekend and had a blast.

Riding in Southern WI

Been a great year riding! Had 2 trips north with no issues! And I am about 150 miles away from being able to say that I have put on 1,000 miles from home in southern WI. Snowmobiling is awesome no matter where you do it. But when you can save some money and are able to enjoy the scenery around this area, it is even better. It's funny, after all the years of "having" to go north to ride, riding in the southern part of the state is like riding in a completely new area. I have been on a lot of trails in the last month that I have never been on in my life of snowmobiling, and I have been riding for 25+ years.

My son took his safety course last fall and we have made 2 trips north where he has been able to ride his own sled. He has a total of 120 miles now under his belt over 4 days of riding mostly 2 tracks and off trail and he has done great. I limit him to about 40 miles so he does not fatigue and have issues.

His trail manners and riding ability have surprised everyone that has ridden with us. I actually worry less about him than my wife when she rides with us!

Last weekend we did have a rollover incident in our group but it was not him. The only casualty was a bruise ego and 1 side mirror.

So far it has been a good season, low on snow and miles but the quality time has been great.

Saber, did the same with my 12 year old son this fall, and he's got about 350 miles under belt this year, riding with me mostly on trails south of the Twin Cities. One day ride was 100 miles! We put on just shy of 200 this past weekend.

Like you say, I'm getting comfortable with him already, he's got better trail manners than a lot of numbskulls we've seen (One guy riding without a helmet of all things!) and he's handling that little 440 XCR quite well! He can't wait for the next ride with me, and neither can I!

Oh, and the snow there is unreal, the most I've seen since the 1991 Halloween Blizzard, if any of you remember that! We found a swamp by my dad's in Lakeville that had 30" on the level. THAT was fun!

leaving in 1 hour

Yup happy.

Leaving Grand Rapids in 1 hour for Paradise.

4 full days of riding. Very happy.

Dont come home till Sun.

Bringing the wife. She is very happy.

Hope to keep her on her machine unlike 2 weeks ago in downtown Brimley in the middle of the paved road right before the bridge.

Stoped in Gaylord on way home to buy her new snowpants to replace the wrecked snowpants from the pavement.

I was not happy about the pants but very happy the only injury she suffered was her pride.

i took my dad riding for the first time in 20+ years(he usualy goes to florida every winter). the last sled he owned and rode was a '78 exiter 440, we put him on my nephews apex and after a few miles he was good to go. we put on about 200 miles in 2 days on great trails, he had a blast and i hope he can come up atleast a weekend every year now. he was amazed how the sleds are today.

I have been riding since the mid 60's and although things are not always perfect (low snow, cold temps, rough trails, etc) I would say that every ride that I have been on has been a great ride.

Recharged in the Northwoods

Our club from west central IL went to Boulder Junction Wisconsin this past week end, and I got to go. My wife has been sick with a secondary virus in her vestubular (sp) part of her ear and brain since mid November. A buddy and I decided to cancel our saddlebag trip earlier in January as things were not good. Things have slowly improved and my lovely wife of 26 years told me to go on this trip and have a good time. Our daughters reassured me they would help mother out for whatever she needed.
The club had a blast in the snow and great trails of the north woods. I did go little nuts and rode over 700 miles in 3.5 days, it was awesome. I thank ALL the people who groom the trails and do all the extra things that made our trip so much fun.

GREAT NEWS SO MANY WANT TO YELL ABOUT THE ONES ON THE LEFT AND THOSE IN THE MIDDLE. Oops caps lock( some one will bioch about that to) It is not a marathon it is to get away and see something fresh and new. If you see some one in the left lane watch for the group at the next stop and bring it up softly.

Bioching gets old and is a sign of a sour out look. The trees next to that sled stopped in the middle may have had a red headed woodpecker.

We (my wife and me) are going on our club trip to Iron River Thursday. This will be my wife’s first snowmobile trip. She has ridden around home from time to time and will do fine on the trip, I am so pumped!
