"Anyone in IL remember SantaFe Speedway...."

Oh yea, spent countless summer evenings at the "Track of clay". Had a buddy in High School who lived about 1/2 mile from Santa Fe, well the track used to comp the locals with free passes cause of all the noise, so we got to see everything for free.

Seen Motorcycle races, Stock car races, Midgets, Monster truck/tractor pulls, demo derbys, you name it at Santa Fe.

Used to remember walkin back to the car after a hot summer night there and all of the cars would have about 1/4 inch of clay dust on them that had been kicked up from the cars on the track.

Ah Yes, the good old days.

06attak..the wife went down there the last day they had the team demos and bought a Santa Fe jacket which she still has today. There have been a few times she has worn it over the years and people come up and comment about the good times at that track. At one point I got my boss to give me Friday nights off and had to work Sun nite just so we could go to all the team demo nites and then a run over to "burritoville" in Summit for some midnite tacos. Good times for sure!!!

06: Can't beat the dirt track. There are 4 right across the border in Wisconsin. The outlaws are just awesome to watch.

Whats nascar? I used to watch it, not any more. They keep changing the rules all the time. Got old. It is not competitive anymore. Who ever has the most money will probably win the championship. Right now it is JJ they are dumping the money into. Throw the money back to Jeff or give it to JR, and then they will start winning, unless another team comes up with more money some how. I say all the cars should be the same, nascar should make everything even, and let the best driver win! I would probably start watching again.

Used to go to Michigan and Indy every year (years ago) when it was still racing. Now it's too boring, too expensive, and at times it's WAY to manipulated by NASCAR....got to love the timely "debri cautions". Funny how they never show the "debri".

most money kinda true but jeff is 1/2 owner of jj car so why would he want to spend more on jj than him self.if he wanted to know what was in his car he rights 1/2 the checks all he has to do is ask.I think jj is as dull as a glass of watter but the boy can drive.

if any one can go to Eldora Speedway it's the dirt track that Tony Stewart owns in Ohio It's an awesome place to watch a race but DON"T WEAR ANYTHING WHITE your going to come home like a mud bowl lol Race to me on Sunday was boring glad Ryan and Mark didn't get hurt. Nascar needs to do something about that track and that car and to listen to the fans more to

cdsprague,

It's obvious you haven't watched for a few years as the cars are as close to the same as they ever have been. Every car has to fit the same templates when they go through inspection and there is very little "wiggle" room. In the last year I can't think of any suspensions for crew chiefs due to being out of spec. JR is a Hendrick driver too, so he's getting the same equipment that Jeff, JJ and MM are, he's just not the driver that they are, and I like JR.

Get rid of the restricter plates all together, let them go as fast as they know how.you will see who the better drivers are and will keep them from bunching up !!The track is fine its the changing rules thats hurting the sport!

I agree with Ubee. Get rid of the restrictor plates and also the spoilers and air dams. The lack of ground effects will tell you who can or can't drive a race car.If your not rubbin your not racin! I for one don't watch as much as I used to. I don't think 32 cars following each other in line is racing. By the way I'm rooting for the old guy,go Mark Martin!

Ubee is so right. Both Ryan Newman and Mark Martin ended up, upside down on Sunday and both of them were not happy and blame Nascar. We used to watch it a lot more than we do now because of this - and other reasons. It's getting as commercialized as all the other sports out there and it sure isn't as fun anymore. Plus my guy JR sucks! He sure isn't his father but that's the only reason he's popular is because of the Earnhardt name.
