I stop at all stop signs. This allows me to crack a beer open at each stop. I tell you what though, from twins lakes to north of south range, I have to really pound them down.

Of course i am kidding, I don't care what others think, i stop at them all. I allow the speedsters to pass me as my mirrors on my x-fire really suck.

Yeah, I wish cars on the road would stop at all stop signs also. Slow and go, and no cops waiting for you to give you that ticket is there?
Sorry, but they don't care.
Snowmobilers are easy money!

I've been pulled over and given a ticket for rolling, and I mean barely rolling, through a stop sign in my car. Unmarked squad behind me. Plain and simple, I did not come to a complete stop, I have no case!

Eagle River, WI - Friday Jan 27. 2 miles through town and 41 stops. What a PITA. 2 cases of beer, a smoked clutch and two belts later:). But we stopped at every sign.

This is probably a dumb question... but why in the snowmobile safety class do they teach you the hand signal to indicate the coast is clear? You know... where you stop at the stop sign and no vehicles are coming so you indicate that to the person behind you? Seems theoretically impossible to ever use that.

...He said he was being a "good guy" and only gave my bud that I flagged thru the intersection a ticket for reckless operation of a snowmobile...

This is the part that scares me, he wasn't even given the ticket for running the stop sign! The cop can turn anything into reckless operation of a snowmobile.

I had a county sheriff pull that on me once in the UP. A friend drove off the trail into a field. My buddy and I followed him, but when I realized he didn't pull off to talk, I turned around to get back on the trail. As I rode up the embankment the sheriff was sitting at the top of the hill waiting for me. After he pulled me over he claimed I was reckless driving by trying to jump up the embankment. I contended that I needed power to go up an embankment. Again, he claimed I was trying to jump the embankment. Only after I pointed out my ski and track marks in the snow he finally relinquished his claim.

So, he decides he is going to give me a ticket for recreational tresspassing. So, I pointed out that I thought the leader was leaving the trail to stop and discuss our next turn and when I realized he was playing in the field, I immediately left the field. Then, the sheriff and I got into a polite disagreement about safety along side the trail and pulling over to be safe from other snowmobiles. Again, he relinquished his claim.

So, he decides he is going to give someone in the group a ticket for recreational tresspassing. That he didn't care who it was so the three of us had to pick the fall guy. Well, I was the only one in the group with proof of insurance and registration so I became the fall guy. Fortunately, someone else was riding a snowmobile along side the highway so the sheriff decided to leave us alone and give that person a ticket.

My experience with them is that it is not about safety, it's about the revenue.

(Needless to say I haven't been back to the Ironwood area in ten years.)

OMG I thought I put enough tongue-in- cheek in my post!!! I felt like a dumb dumb for getting my bud a ticket.. Yes of course stop means top.. I'm not like a bible thumping politician preaching about the sanctity of marriage and diddling with pages in the capital after hours.. Yes, I admitted I was wrong, and led my bud into a trap.. Please Please forgive me!! I promise I will stop at every stop sign I see now!!! If I didn't have a big heavy 4 stroke sled, I woulda just jumped over the road.. can they give me a ticket for that if I'm flying above the road?? Yes, the cops are there for our safety, they have a thankless job and they're the folks we depend on if an emergency happens.. I was p.o'd at myself, not the cop.. I saw the thread on here that they were watching us at stop signs I AM A SINNER!! I'm going to sell my snowmobiles and buy a set of cross cuntry skis or a dog sled and 13 dam dogs!!!!

Dear stop sign god, bless the soul of this heathenness stop sign sinner. Don't bistow the damnation of **** on him for he has confessed his sins and has paid retribution to his fellow man. For he sees the error of his ways and has repented. Oh stop sign god, may he preach the good word of stopping at stop signs and be a enlighten example of this practice for all to see in this dim and oh so dark world of violated a stop sign. Please protect this lost sheep that has returned to the flock. Amen.

Do I have an amen for this sheep that has returned to the flock!

They don't teach the "all clear signal" in snowmobile safety class!!
