Wondering how many out there do this in their kitchens? Got a new carb for the 72 Lynx. Came with wrong jetting had to change to proper jetting.
Cleaned another while I was in carb mode. 20171128_133956.jpg

just the powder stuff works great . I have been cleaning my clutches jugs heads etc like that for decades. stuff comes out like new . I would usually sort of clean them in the shop sink first when using the home dishwasher but now just fresh from under the hood
best part is the dish I put in buds shop is a Miele new well north of a grand the one in my house a cheep GE with a plastic inside south of 600 bucks lol

Tried to recover with a romantic touch - my wife wasn't amused.

Use to do that all the time until we build a shop out back. Never thought of the dinner / wine deal to soften the yelling. LOL

This is funny.
I have to admit that my other half is pretty tolerant. She does comment about the parts on my benches and the floor around the sled though. I often have a project going with everything laid out nicely for "my" organizational style. She will walk in, see the parts, and ask me what I am doing now. It impresses me that she even notices sometimes. This lady didn't know the difference between a wrench and a screwdriver before we met. Now, she asks dang good questions about what ever project I am working on at the time. She has also learned enough to hand me the correct tools when I need an extra hand. I think I found a good one, but I haven't pushed the dishwasher trick yet.

I hadn't heard of the dishwasher one yet. But now that I've heard of it, it's just a matter of time. Can see my clutches in there after cleaning and inspecting.

You guys crack me up, thanks for that!

Guilty of wrenching/gun cleaning in kitchen, wife does not like it but you know the drill. She'll tolerate a little gas smell versus me spending $5K to make a workable shop in the garage.

I had never heard about the dishwasher for parts, great idea, thanks for that one! One of the reasons I love this site, someone always has an answer! (even if it is followed by lots of smart a$$ comments and jokes)

Years back while in my apartment I was spraying down my dirtbike carb with carb cleaner on my living room coffee table. That didn't end well for the coffee table fake oak finish, but at least it was one of those cheap ones you find at mills fleet. I still have it and use it in my basement from time to time when my work bench is to high for the project I am working on.

The dishwasher works great. I send 4 sets of clutches thru ours every fall. Comes out looking like new. Wife is not so fond of it but she's better about it than she was the time I had carbs apart on the kitchen table at the cabin.

Last year did my buddys mach z carbs on the kitchen counter of the (rental) cabin. In 1971 when in the Army, I rebuilt my C6 trans on the kitchen table of the apartment my wife and I lived in. Put down lots of cardboard on table top. Nothing like the smell of burnt Type F trans fluid in the kitchen . LOL
