Jim...durphee mentioned an exercise program and now you say "the worst thing is to sit around and do nothing, this will be my biggest challenge!"

It too was the hardest thing for me depressed and I was injured so who wants to do anything.

Well I have to say... the day I said I'm going to move my body even if it's a walk around the house 3 times and I'm going to do it every day for 30 days no matter how bad and depressed I feel was really a good thing. I found out I really needed it and I still do it to this day.

YOU have to get up and out, do the 3 times around the house thing....but try to do something....it will really help in time, it really will

Looking for work these days is depressing all in itself. Loosing family makes it much...
I have been dealing with similar things, and many others I know.

What I have found for me... volunteer work was helpfull for depression. Even going out and ring bells for Salvation Army. Just doing something I feel better.

I also found a part time job, pay is really poor. And it's embrassing when people I know see me there, Some people say some really dumb things. But I am getting out and alot of people I work with there are in similar situations.

I really respect this & excellent advise!! A job is better than no job at all. Many people are working below their normal pay scales but they ARE WORKING. If I was hiring & I'm not but if I was I would favor the person that got out there took a job & made the best of a tight job market. You have to make it happen now days not wait for your life to return to the way it was in the haydays. The job market may never be what it was as CEOs have made it a habit to do more with less. Make the best of whatever skills you have & the rest will evolve over time.

See if your doc will give you a bottle of Xanax to keep around for when you start to feel like an attack is coming on. It will take the edge off pretty quick.

bobsledder...thanks for asking...things are better, went to counsler and told her i couldn't take this stuff (paxil) any longer...it was working, but the side effects were messing me up and i was worse than when i started...so i quit taking it!!! that was dec.14. she wants me to see one of their doctors but can't get in till jan 3 to see about different med. soooo...these last 10 days have been GREAT!! no side effects, feel better than i have in months, been staying busy, not 1 panic attack!!! i have zanex but haven't touched them either, sleeping decent again at night. so, i don't know if i even want to see their doctor... the counsler is off till after new years so i want to talk to her first, i really don't want to take any meds. if i don't have to! also i don't know if the way i'm feeling now is a result of the paxil still in my system or what, i only was on it for about 4 weeks, so if i can keep going the way i am i should be alright!! thanks again for asking....jim

Sounds to me like paxil is working but don't worry sometimes the brain will reset on its own & paxil helped get you there. If you start feeling uptight soon see the doc for different med.

Glad to hear things are going better for you! Be sure to keep the counseling appointment as meds with no counseling are less effective. Don’t loose your momentum and keep working at having a good life. The side affects are hard on your family also, but not as bad as trying to “help” (live with) someone who is so depressed they can’t function.
