Anyone ever have someone HIT your trailer?

I am pretty sure that the liability coverage is getting confused with the "full coverage" (comp. & collision) here. It is correct that when a trailer is connected to the tow vehicle the liability coverage on the tow vehicle will be extended to the trailer (i.e. you are driving down the road, with the trailer connected, and the trailer hits a parked car).

In this case Progressive Ins. is covering the damage under the liability coverage of the at-fault driver. Most of the time losses like this don't turn out so good since the at-fault driver usually doesn't go trying to find out who the owner was of the property damage (PD) that they caused. Having been a claims adjuster for almost nine years I have rarely seen this happen....Even though this is unfortunate Polarice, you got lucky that an honest person with good parents who also had insurance hit your trailer!

Progressive should value the trailer with all the add-ons since it is a PD claim for them.

I couldn't believe it when I got the call on Sunday from my GF's sister's husband. I explained to them that there was no reason to get the police involved if they made it right. The kid is probably 17 or so and would certainly lose his license.

Thanks for the info.

Ezra, I think it would be wise to get the 12ft hoping that they total this one.

has anyone hit your trailer?

No, but a friend of mine did last summer. 1 hour from home headed for Yellowstone! Still battling in court over the 5g cleanup cost.

I spoke with the adjuster today and they decided to total the trailer. I'm glad that they did decide to total it instead of repair it. Now we just have to get the numbers correct for all the accessories and the trailer itself.

I just got a check from the insurance company yesterday. The place that I bought the trailer from gave me a great deal so I actually made money on the trailer!! Unbelievable!! I would pocket another $300 or $400 assuming I would buy the exact same trailer!

Now I'm going to get a new 12ft open trailer with a salt shield. I'm going with open so that I can haul my Rzr on it. That is going to save me over $1000!

How about that, I use a trailer for a whole season and I got paid to do it LOL!
