Anyone regret having sled with studs

Been riding sleds for 30 years. Always had sleds with no studs. Strictly a trail rider in the Wisc north woods. Looking at a lot of used sleds, with many being studded. Has anyone regretted going with a sled that is studded? (not looking for the the great stud debate but rather real word experiences)

Thanks

I always had studs on sled up until I bought my 2013 Polaris 6 sleds later and I now have to go back to studs. I actually hate them as they tear up the trailer/ driveway etc... I've also lost studs and even blew a track right off likely due to studs. But my turbo 4 stroke can't hook up so I'll be installing studs on this sled.

Havent studded last few sleds, miss them at times with ice and road crossing but can deal with it. Torn up driveway, track pull outs and few thrown through heat exchanger gets pricey

Of the 20+ sleds I’ve owned only 1 of them was studded. After putting one through the heat exchanger I’ll never own another studded sled.

What Indy said. Never had studs and if you saw the hills we have in my neck of the woods you wouldn't think anyone would need them. Learn how to ride without them. Best advice out there. I hate studs!!

It doesn’t bother me with or without but for wife and daughter I have em 2 each row up center my sled not usually I can ride it just fine up here in Vilas with no studs but I do only put them in for stopping and icy road crossings for the girls

Only use ice ripper track don’t have to worry about throwing a stud and blowing out a heat exchanger. I’ll never stud a track again not worth the risks. Problem is if you keep the sled long enough studs will come out can’t stop it from happening.

Once sleds progressed to 1.25 and bigger IMO studs were no longer needed to get power to the ground , only braking. I have studs on my wife’s 2 up basically so she can slam on the brakes.

Good answer, plus with tracks getting so much longer the need IMO is not needed for good hookup. I have never had any sleds studded since like others have said, I don't want to tear up the driveway, trailer and especially my epoxied garage floor.

Have studded all sleds sense 2000 and have never thrown a stud many over 7 to 12k. I have a ice ripper track and will not waste my money on that again, I will put real studs in. My personal thought I like the way my sled handles with studs and without it slides around to much.

X 2! Stated perfectly! Gave studs up 45 years ago, nothing but problems then, and the same today. Tracks, heat exchangers, wheels, etc.

I have the ice ripper on my LTX and it hooks up just fine. My wife has stock unstudded track on hers and can tell the difference right away.

Only time I miss them is wore out corners. I don't miss the damage they do to floors and driveways. I still see marks on my parents shop floor and driveway and I have not lived there in almost 20 years!

Had one sled that came with studs. But I've had several sleds without.
I can take them or leave them.
I would never install them.
