Any one know much about the Apex XTX? Good/ Bad any problems??
I currently ride 2010 Apex LTX and looking at a New Apex with a 128 track or a Apex XTX with the 144. so it would be 8 inch difference either way. Just looking for some feedback.
Thanks

well i have the Nytro with the xtx skid and can say Im glad I went that route.
I was little leary to go that long but once i rode it i loved it.
With tipped up rails it should feel pretty close to your LTX. And with the power of the Apex, its what i would choose. So unless you love nothing but tight and twistes and want a little better cornering then get the 128.

Well, after riding an 06 apex 121, streching it to 128 and also riding an Attak 136,,,, i honestly cant tell the 128 from the 136. If you like the cushy trail ride of the mono, and I do , you will HATE the CK skid in the XTX. It will not bottom out, but it will beat the crap out of you in the groomed trail stutters. I have chosen to keep the Attak and the 128. Going to sell the XTX. It handles great and the power is awesome, but it is not a high milage trail runner like the mono is. If I felt I needed the 136 I would buy the 128 and put a tracks usa extention on it. I urge you to ride the XTX on an average late day trail before you buy one.

I have the 08 Apex LTX 136 that I bought new and can't get a smooth ride on it.
Very tight rear suspension.
Pushes on the front in turns
Any ideas on how to set it.
Tried the adjuster on the side with little results.
Hard to keep up with the others trail riding.

A common mistake is to have too much preload on the ski shocks. Most guys have found the sweet spot to be is just enough preload to hold the A-arms horizontal to the ground when ridden. As far as the reas susp. there are alot of helpful website forums with monoshock susp. adjustment info...just google it.

I'm a little confused. the XTX has a 144" track, not a 128" or a 136". Are you discussing the apex SE? which has a 128" track? The 136" track came on the Attak and the LTX versions of the vector and I"m sure the older apex. Just trying to understand your post.

you are going to hear a lot of opinions here that will most likely vary substantially. In fact, within the few people I ride with...we all have our own opinions. We can even ride the same exact sled and have different opinions of it's ride and handling.

With that said..."MY" opinion is based on having a 2006 Apex GT, 2007 Attak GT, 2011 Apex XTX and a 2012 Apex XTX. I no longer have the 2006 & 2007 machines, but I put on several thousand miles on each of them. In fact, up until I had the XTX's the attak was my favorite sled to date. there were issues with the stock shocks in those days especially the 2006 Apex GT (121" track). I had pioneer performance revalve the stock shocks and it did help. I personally didn't like how easy it was to bottom out with the stock setups. In my experience, the 2006 & 2007 model years required tinkering with the shock and spring setups to get things dialed in. With the XTX's I haven't done anything. I don't bottom out at all. I have heard about some people saying it's a harsh ride, but I simply don't experience that. I will say I'm the type of person who likes the firmer ride in cars too so maybe that's why I prefer the ride of the XTX. Again, it's personal taste. I have not had any problems with my XTX's and in fact they are now my favorite sleds I have ever owned. I am mostly a Yamaha guy, but have had two ski-doos over the years as well. sometimes when someone comes with us for a weekend and doesn't have a sled we have rented a renegade. It's OK, just not for me. It also depends on how you ride and the type of trails you mostly ride on. tight twisty trails you may like the Apex SE with the 128" track. Even with the tipped rails on the XTX at 144" you will have a harder time keeping up with a guy on a lightweight 121" ski-doo in the twisties...but you are only a short straight away behind. no big deal. I prefer how the longer track seems perfectly matched to the horsepower of the sled. My biggest complaint of the 2006 Apex GT (121" track) was that I felt the engine over powered the shorter track. the Attak Gt (136" track) was better, but the tipped rails on the 144" XTX is in my opinion finally right on.

Ultimately you have to be the one to decide for yourself. Maybe test ride if possible or hook up with someone who has one and try it out. Obviously the reliability and fit & finish of Yamaha is a big plus and I don't need to really comment on that.

just_ride,

I've sold dozens of these and I have no complaints and I see a lot of them. You will not be disappointed with the Apex XTX. If it's too stiff for you there are adjustments to soften them up. You can change spring rates if you can't soften it up enough, there's nothing wrong with the 144 Skid. If the XTX has one downfall it's premature slide wear. Put the Duponts on as they are money well spent. We stock them there. I have yet to change a set of those and I have two customers over 6000 miles on them. This is a sled you can ride everyday with very little maintenance and it just keeps getting stronger and stronger the more you ride it!! I have two customers with 10,000 miles each and I rode both of them and they are beasts! They will outperform any low mile XTX I've ever been on. It's nice to ride and see a motor getting stronger instead of weaker. You won't be disappointed, period!!!!!!!

I had the 2011 Apex XTX and it is a great sled. My only issue with the sled was what some other people have said is when you go through beat up moguled trails that XTX suspension will beat you up. Weight is weight. I went with the 800Etec with Rmotion suspension. You can't beat the engine and smooth ride of the XTX when the trails are nice and on the lake that thing is FAST.

I'm having trouble understanding why the XTX 144 tipped can not be as plush as the mono LTX GT?? The added track length has to help the XTX & looks like a traditional rear suspension set up & has clicker shocks to boot. Sure the mono is a world of its' own in setup but not the XTX. Yes my Gt mono can push button EC for sweet spot in studders leave everyone in the whitedust.lol The XTX with EPS has to be better than non EPS Yam sleds for long hauls & I'm thinking with proper set up can be even better in studders & trash than mono. As far as engine performance Kip is correct the 4 holer doesn't start coming into it's own until about 2500 miles & at 10K the top mph & mpg seems to improve. dfattak is not a big guy still weighs less than me even though I lost 20 lbs & he says XTX is plush & has a bunch of Yamahas but he does get them set up for his riding style which is not slow.lol :) I hope to have an XTX soon & will report back on comparsion XTX to Apex LTX or Attak.

I bought the 13 apex xtx last year. Love everything about it except I didn't like the rear suspension, it bottoms out easy and is harsh over bumps. I put the $300 star suspension kit in it and it seems perfect now.

xtx skid should not be bottoming out easily. May need bigger springs if already set on high and still bottoming out.
I agree there can be a harshness or beat up feeling in the stutter bumps as rebound is bit much,at least too me, on my '09.

dfattack,
thanks for the feedback. I too thought the engine over powered the shorter track when my wife rode her 06 Apex, while I rode the 06 Attak.
I rode a demo 2011 Apex with + hp and 128 track and again felt like not enough track for the motor.
Thanks for the feedback
