Arctic Cat ACT drive

I am not real tuned in on these drives just yet. How much fluid does an 05 F7 without reverse hold in the ACT drive. No specs what so ever in the owners manual. The dealer told my son 3 oz. but to me that just doesn't sound right???

Yes 3 oz is correct. That is why it is important to change it at least every season. Also some of the 2005 diamond drives had the seals installed backwards from the factory. If the oil in your diamond drive looks milky like there is moisture in there yours may be one of them.

Yep 3oz in the 05 same as my M6 Scott.Make sure before you add new oil you put a bottle of dimond drive flush in there and drain it good and then add the new oil.AC sells pre-messured DD oil in 3oz bottle.Spicers should have every thing you need.I just got done doing mine last weekend pulled the whole dd out of the sled to inspect it plus it was easyer to flush and fill out of the sled only takes about half hour from start to finish.

not a cat guy

So before you call me a dumb ***..... Where is the dd located?? I am a life long poo guy but my bud has a 06 f6 and I was gonna do some work on it. I asked him if he ever did anything with his DD and of course he hadn't so I looked for something resembling a chain case but didn't find anything. Where is it?? Oh and whats the deal with the dd flush?? Is it just like parts washer or what?? thanks guys.

The dd is located behind the secondary clutch, you have to remove the ceter bolt, slide off the secondary, and the fill plug is right there. the drain plug is underneath on same side, between the track and the tunnel.

There is no jackshaft on a DD, the secondary is connected to a gear and that gear turns the gear on the driveshaft without a chain.

Thanks guys. Now I know why I didn't see it.... So what type of oil does it use?? Is it a gear oil type or a lighter hydraulic type oil?? Can I just flush with parts washer and air or do I need to drive 40 miles to a cat dealer and get the right stuff?? Thanks again

The manual states to flush it on the sled. It is pretty easy to do. Drain first(I like to tip the sled to the left while draining). Refill with the flush fluid from Cat and start the sled. Run the track around a few times to work the fluid around. Shut her down again. Drain flush fluid and refill with the DD oil. We just use OEM oils and flush fluids. It is easy with everything presized for the task.

Thanks Rob. I did my boys F570 before but it was a little different. We sold that boat anchor and got him an F7. The 570 had reverse so the quantity of oil was a little more on that one.

dont just drain it takes like 20 min to pull it out then you can split it open clean it well check for damage{the 5 pin planetary} clean off the magnetic plate under planetary do it corect or dont bitch when it blows and you are waiting for a 650 dollar part to show up.I pull my DD every yr you can pull take apart clean and reinstall in less than 1.5 hr the first time and like 45min after that.just bought one off a sled being parted spun free felt good pulled apart she was a time bomb 3 teeth missing on planetary would have never known with out taking apart and it would have prob blew at 8000ft in 6ft of pow 5mi from the trailer 100mi from a dealer that would have to order one that would take 2 weeks to get to me at home 1200 mi from where it blew apart.you know that is how it happens every time
