Bad behavior

Well we have blamed the cops, had grammer corrections made, complaints about grooming and millennials in this thread.

Seems like a near complete waste of time. Good to know the community takes poor behavior seriously.

I have to agree with the bluff, everyone places the blame on everyone else for other peoples actions these days, no matter what it is there is no accountability and everyone is fast to complain about the repercussions. Rules are put in place to be followed yet more often than not its more like rules are put in place to be broken by some, I have often wondered if these same people look the other way when there is trespass, property damage or whatever it may be when it happens to them? but that's different. I don't blame the property owners for posting liscense plate numbers, plowing people in, maybe the guy has made numerous attempts to curb it or maybe the guy has had enough of people parking where they shouldn't be, especially if its posted, read the sign, not that difficult. and if someone wants to "roll on" through because a town wants to enforce rules then I agree again....just roll on. You cant seriously expect a towns people to look the other way when people trespass, damage property or whatever. What is so difficult about following rules, Snowmobiling is a privelage not a right, given by state, county and local representatives yet for some they are entitled, above all that. I just have to laugh when people blame the town, like the town is asking for it or they deserve it, if you cant follow rules then I agree "roll on"

Yay another thread where the pay to play guys claim to single handedly keep the economy UP nort afloat.
Because we all know that poor 621 HMV came up with the intent to empty their fat wallets at the local retail, lodging and evening supper club establishments. And not just drop and ride until the trails were trashed then go home. :rolleyes3:

So.... Are you saying that there are no early drinkers in Burlington that hate people from Illinois, or that they are somehow better than the ones up north?

I'm with TheBluff. We need to start speaking up/self policing the bad apples that are putting our riding areas in jeopardy. I can only imagine how frustrating some of the behavior up there is to the locals, and the attitude that money for the economy entitles people to act however they want.

You what I find astonishing when I read this thread, how easy it is for people to ramp up the sarcasism and disrespect. I’ve come to terms a few years back that this is how people conduct their lives. People care little for others and will trash them in a blink of an eye. I miss visiting this site but when I read some of the responses to the original poster, I am quickly reminded why I choose to NOT subject myself to the continual disrespect that many here typically exhibit.

Some of us still are respectful, kind and caring but it’s an attribute that’s on the decline. We’ve sunk to a new level of morality which is very discouraging. Odd thing is, this is normal for many of you. Your lucky this isn’t my site because,,,,,let’s just say,,,,,the membership wouldn’t be quite as high as it is.

Now, you know who you are so rip me a new one like you know you cannot resist.

Well said Lenny, I agree completely.

For what it's worth there is a way to manage the sarcasm, bashing and what not. Go to your Settings screen (upper right hand corner of this page) scroll to the bottom you'll see a button for "Ignore List". Just add their User Name and their posts will never see the light of day on your computer.

Personally I refuse to engage anyone who chooses to "poke the bear". We all know what the bear does in the woods and eventually that's how it will end.

Boy, the local chatter is very active for so early in the season. A picture of a Minnesota truck (plate 621 HMV, for intentional embarrassment) parked yesterday behind a No Tresspassing and No Snowmobile sign. A couple of lively Facebook threads citing quite a few examples of disrespect.....and from some of the nicest people I know.

Owner plowed them in then watched them dig out with their hands, locals wanting video to cherish.

I used to spend a fair amount of time defending the sport locally because of a few bad apples. Call each other out...you do not have the right to tresspass or violate local laws....when you do, it makes all look bad.

Is it illegal to just shoot the sob's when this outrage happens???....i mean obviously these scumbags have been repeatedly disrespecting your area to get to this point where you all just watched...laughed and videoed them dig their vehicle out by hand in sub zero temps after you all deliberately plowing them in....what was the time frame?....did the snow have a chance to set up?....i hope they bled too!!!!...

Yesterday evening my family and I were at some friends house. There was a young kid there who just came in from outside and told us a quick story of how he had a conservation with some snowmobilers down the road. Story was, the kid asked if the guys needed help because they were parked in a field just up from the ditch. The guys said no help needed as they were resting from jumping the ditch into the field. The kids asked if the guys knew the owners of the property of the field they were riding on and the sledders told him no, that they were just having a little fun.

Moral of the story; adults looking for fun often don’t take the time to think things through. Sometimes they think that because they are far from home in a tiny town who they think desperately needs revenue, they can just do whatever they want. This doesn’t make them bad people but it doesn’t mean that their actions are acceptable. As a local, I see this sort of thing on nearly a daily basis.

I live on a 5 acre lot with a brand new sewer system trenched in this fall. We hit lots of rock and roots in the dug trench and unfortunately couldn’t dig it as deep as desired so we insulated the trench in the high spots and was instructed not to drive ANYTHING over it. Guess what buddy, someone saw an open yard full of deep snow and couldn’t resist. Now my sewer line is more subject to frost driving down and possibly freezing. Should I have to post signs? Should I just be happy that the poor guys just wanted to have a little fun? Is my perception of people changing to some degree as these incidents continue to happen? It’s possible it was a local who drove in my yard. Could I just drive in someone’s yard or park where I’m instructed not to park, no I could not.

Your comments are hard to interpret. Correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t seem to interested in working towards a solution. Could you contribute constructively to this issue as some are are trying to do? You’ll never know exactly the degree of frustration till you experience this attitude of contempt for others that we locals see as an ongoing problem. My hopes are that you could help out and offer up some wisdom, encouragement, instruction or for that matter, anything positive. Thanks in advance if you choose to support us on this issue. Let’s work together and not allow a wedge to be driven deeper in. As it is, things are not sustainable if things don’t change.

Get real Lenny. My sarcasm is a direct over reaction to the Piss and moan of this thread starter. It was obviously posted without any regard for a solution. It was done in degradation an retaliation for someone parking in a bad spot. YET we see no actual proof of this terrible action.

Myself and everyone I have ever rode the UP with has had nothing but respect for the establishments we support. We never walk in with the attitude that YOU all >NEED US<....>NEVER<....and I Know I speak for thousands here.
AND I will say that we have shown MORE respect than we have received in the overall scheme of things. No problem with that....planning to keep the sledder crowd happy on a day to day basis is huge task especially in fringe snow areas where it can change week to week.

Remember who this tread was started by....it wasn't some arrogant sledder complaining about being PLOWED IN, was it?

snobuilder, believe it or not, I do appreciate your post. I’m very glad to hear how you and your crew conduct yourself in this sport. As a local I thank you, seriously.

Two points I want to make. First, as a local who is going on 11 years in da UP, I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that there is a serious problem with sledders trespassing. This issue is real and as “the breeze” suggested, we need to sort of “police each other” with hopes of improving things. With the current trend, more regulation will be the result,,,,,it’s inevitable.

Second, I know Matt “thebluff” personally and can attest to his integrity. He’s not a BS’er. Matt has supported the industry in lodging, has groomed trails for many years and is very much community oriented. I cannot sit back and let you dump on someone you don’t know personally. Are you suggesting he’s making this up?

Lastly, I am seriously encouraged to see you step up in your last post and offer a serious explanation, much appreciated. If all the guys would interact as you do while sledding, we would have no problem.
