Best Apres Snowmobiling in Houghton/Hancock

Hello,
I have been staying at the Ramada in Hancock while backpacking up from Watersmeet in recent years and need some guidance on Apres-Snowmobiling. The bar in the hotel always closes early and my attempts at locating a hopping Sports-Bar etc. (even while taking a taxi) have been underwhelming.

Regards, Frank

After snowmobiling. Don't quite know why so fancy but... I to am curious. We stayed in houghton many times and besides the KBC not much going on. Wondering if there isn't much of a drinking culture there. Wish the KBC didn't close so early....

What is early to you? Ramada seems to stay open relatively late if there is a crowd. This time of year, with the holidays etc., it should be open late enough, if there is snow.

whats apres mean?

To paraphrase; the social activities and entertainment following a day of snowmobiling.

To me it means; where can I take a taxi, have a few shots and beers and listen to music or watch sports while there are other snowmobilers also relaxing.

The last time I was there they closed before the late football game started due to being understaffed.

I like to stay out until 11 PM and listen to music or watch sports.

While I don't get the impression of the same level of drinking from the locals as those in WI (granted, that might be lofty standards...), Michigan Tech is generally thought of as the drinking school of the state.

I'm not much for the bar scene (too loud for my tastes, at least those in town...), but the Downtowner, Douglas House Saloon, and B&B are popular and are open later than the KBC (which stops serving at either 10 or 11, depending on the night).

Can't even watch the game, that is closing too early. Must have just been one of those things or a very slow time of the year.

Yea Houghton is where the bars are at. About 8 years ago I was up there with my girlfriend, visiting her sister for her 21st bday. Her and all her friends would all go across the bridge to go out. We actually stayed at the downtowner... that place is a step back in time. All bars there are gonna be packed with college kids which may or may not be what you are looking for. Have a fishbowl at the Ambassador, do some shots at the downtowner... try to find your room.

yea we analyzed that whole area over the years..mass is the best nightime base..we can run all around..but our favorite is the rosseau bar run(although they close usually at 9)..those back trails are groomed and virtually untouched..then we go sit on those long trail 3 bridges and just hang out..bars are for daytime when ur riding(trails)
