So the rain hasn't been taking any snow with it? With the raim amounts the nws is reporting I would think the snow would be real slushy.

Nope not slushy at all. Rain was very light in 20s all the time. Snowing very hard in SE of Phelps now. I need to go out get things cleaned up family coming for Xmas. I'll try & get a picture if I have time. Best thing to do is let the groomers do their thing & trails will set up very well. I don't exspect much grooming until Saturday. Groomers need Xmas family time too.

lesueur county, montgomery 16 to 20 in and more coming, running out of room to plow snow. may have to push it into the neighbors. he loves that.
Left my summit in Mass City, going to try the ditches in a '93 Polaris 440 liquid. I know, I'll bring a shovel.

That is the sucky part about these lows that come up from the southwest, if you are on the wrong side of the low, you normally get freezing rain or rain. Sometimes I would rather have 2-3 Alberta clippers come trough a week dropping 1-3 inches of snow each time.

Not at all sure about conditions else where as storm rained everywhere WI -UPMI but Phelps needed this type of storm to firm up base. The perfect storm for trail conditions & now 18F. We have at least 17 inches of snow on ground maybe more & that is compressed snow with no slush. Last 2 years all the big storms went south so it all evens out over the seasons. We are in good flow this winter for WI Northwoods.

Thanks Whitedust...How far are u from Al's camera. Maybe the trees have blocked some from getting to this? At any rate, this is good news. Can't be good for the lakes though? Do you know if there are any lakes in your area that have been marked.

rain may be good for firming up the trails a bit but that crust of ice on top the snow will not be good for the deer,,,,,,,,,the dogs can stay on top

I don't know where Al's cam is by hotel in Eagle River or his house in Phelps. I'm 9 miles SE of town of Phelps. My lake was very slushy so got worse in this storm but I have been crossing it at a high rate of speed since the 16th. I have not had an opportunity to ride this week but don't think North Twin in Phelps will be marked for a while. No big deal just take Trail 17 around to 6. Snowing lightly again today. Faimily here & they all said big change in snow depth east of the Wayside Gas Station on 70 in Eagle River to my house even 70 was snow covered.

The trails need the snow we are getting, the few trails that were groomed were smooth, but enough snow to fill in the major gaps and holes, bottoming out on huge dips at higher speeds.. Overall though it was a slower ride, with lots of bumps.. Not as much traffic as I would have expected for Christmas week. The lakes are total crap, people rolling sleds and are just messy, rough and major slush that is freezing after people travel through it. Right now every entrance is horrible. If we get a few more inches and the groomers can keep up, this winter could be epic though! Still tons of fun compared to watching rain fall!
