With the warmer temp I'm sure there will be a few quads out, but maybe not enough to rut the trails any more than sleds will cause stutter bumps. I'm not an ATV'r but most of them I've come across on the trails are cautious and treat trails with respect like most snowmobilers. There's a bad bunch in each group...If you find any of either that are ripping up the trails report them. With that said last year I only hit one rough section for 7 miles due to a ice fishing event on one of the lakes that caused a high amount of traffic from both sleds and ATVs.

If you look at some local maps you'll see where the shared trails are. There aren't too many quad trails once you get out of the county forest.

Enjoy the ride

Drop locations

The below link goes to a map that has Parking (P) locations identified. I'm also aware of a lot North of Hatfield at the intersection of Hwy 95 & J (Levis Mound).

Download the Polaris Ride Command ap on your phone. It has the Wis Trail maps and can track your location via GPS

If I could give 10 thumbs up to your statement old abe I would!! That is the one downfall to Jackson county now, but they are trying to appease the tourism industry I think.

Does anyone know if it is the Days Inn that has the trail behind the parking lot, and it goes through a tunnel under the road?
I haven't been there in a while. Just trying to remember.
Thanks

And that's they're choice, and it's fine with us. They can do what they have to do, but we'll ride our sleds somewhere else. It's that simple. When the warm up comes this next week, the ATV's will turn it into immediate mush, and slop. Then, when it freezes up, and it will, now you have a real mess to try and groom back down to a nice trail. All I can say is good luck with that!!! I can't help but feel for the snowmobile club members around Jackson Co.. For what limited time the snowmobilers have in the snow limited winters of now days, one would think the ATV/UTV would have had enough in their warm season riding to leave the sleds alone in the winter months. Just my rant!!! We also enjoy our ATVs, and UTVs, but in their own place, and time.

You can park a trailer at the trail head on East Lake Arbutus or just off Cty J on the West side of Arbutus or on Hwy 10 west of Neillsville, to name a few. There's also parking on Cty. B north of Humbird at Wildcat Mound parking lot. Levis Mound parking lot is not trail accessible to my knowledge and if it is it would mean riding back roads to get to a trail, not a good option when there are plenty of places on the trails to park and ride...IMO. You might run into an ATV on the trail but it's all County land so they are open to ATV's, just the way it is up here, don't like it...but is what it is. Go towards Sparta or North of Neillsville/Marshfield way and it's mostly club trails with no ATV traffic. With that said, I took a ride this morning to Rock Dam and there's some logging going on up that way but the trails were perfect, with little to no traffic (that will change this weekend, expecting quite a bit of traffic this weekend). Go this weekend though, as trails may close by next weekend if we get the rain John is forecasting.

2 years ago we stayed at the Super 8 in Osseo. Trail was behind and it went under the hiway like you mentioned.

It's still there. That's how you go south towards Sparta and Melrose area.

Totally agree same way I felt about Jackson a little better in Clark less ATVs and groomed Frs hold up better. Both counties have wonderful trails friendly peeps but ATVs in winter is nuts.

What a bummer. My family has a cabin in Rock Dam and we haven't been able to ride there in the winter in years.

We lost alot snow but we had a nice base and we have snow on the ground....just went out and measured in my back yard 3-4" of snow everywhere, more in the woods...(Neillsville area)....so not "all gone"....but "not good" is a better statement. The County Trails to Rock Dam will be ride able this weekend if we get the 4-6" of snow on top of what we have. Biggest problem is the creeks are now open and the Black River is open again, so crossing Lake Arbutus in Hatfield may be an issue and is probably gone for rest of the year unless we get a real good cold snap. Jackson County is supposed to get 6-10" snow. Trails around Rock Dam have been open and rideable. Maybe not the best all the time but trails have been open in all the past years. I rode up to Rock Dam two weeks ago and the trails were excellent and good up to last week until the warm weather hit.

Wow really? I stand corrected. I've been through there last Friday and again Monday and did not see any snow to speak of anywhere around black River Falls.

When you go south of Black River Falls and get closer to Tomah, there was much less snow than Black River Falls north to Hatfield and Neillsville area. Snowing now, guessing a couple inches so far and just heard on TV that LaCrosse and Monroe Counties up to 6" so far this morning. Hopefully we all get more and trails get back to where they were.

Whitehorse, can you please post conditions when it stops snowing? Maybe we'll cancel going up to Munising, MI and come out here to ride instead. Supposed to be going up Feb 3rd-6th.

We rode 2 weekends ago and started in Wausau and were planning on making it over to Rock Dam but then my buddy blew a belt so we only make it to Neillsville as we were running around trying to find another spare. Trails were excellent then but then the warm up had me thinking it was over up there again.

Thanks
