Blew up the kitty this past weekend

Pops and I rode around Lake Gogebic for 36 miles, double checked the sleds, gas'd up at a mom and pops store off Lake Gogebic, 4 miles later half way up LG blew up the sled at 60 mph.

its a 2007 F1000 sno pro efi, pretty much stock besides body extras. 2200 miles, couldn't believe it.

Pops REV is a 2003 800 and nothing happened to his...the bashing from my Pops stopped when I got the Flu 7 hours later. What a weekend.

Dealer said it was bad gas so far as they dig in it. 1800 is the bill so far... burned down one side completely and scorn the other.

Comments? a 2600.00 weekend was pretty rough although I lost 10 pounds.

I lost the top end on my wife's Pol 600 (broken power valve, did a nice job on the piston) and two pistons, two set of rings, two power valves and labor was $994 out the door. That also included cleaning the carbs (didn't need it but told them to do it, thought at first it burned down) and $89 for coming out to pick up the carcass at a trailhead. Seem expensive but compared to $1800 maybe not so bad.

How is the oil consumption from the injector? Do you use any iso in gas? I always use iso in gas no matter what the conditions are. There's always a problem with moisture in gas and from sucking snow through the intake doesn't help either. I also run 12oz of injector oil in a full tank every 500 miles and before storage. When you first start up for the season, the extra oil gives the motor extra lubrication. Wont hurt it.

Mine required crank work, not just a top end. I agree though, I was shocked at the price. But most of it is parts and machine work. Less than $500 is labor.

Just asked a question and it was covered and paid for 4 days later... no rise in insurance, was quite shocked and happy! now if I can only get one more trip in......

i was shocked too.

honest to goodness, it was picked up.

I said to them that my sled blew up over the past weekend and the dealer has gone though it so far and said the reason has been "bad gas" from gas station.

She came back to me from the underwriters and said that as long as I can prove where I got the gas, have a sample, dealer says my machine was maintained b4 hand, (which I just had it checked over) had parts of the motor which proved damage, she believes it would be covered. I still didn't believe it.

They sent a estimator to the dealer, he took pictures of the motor broke down and got a copy of estimate and cut me a check for 1546.85. I was very shocked, I have full coverage but I didn't know it was that good.

I was wondering if they thought something different when I said motor blew up (like explosion and pieces flying everywhere) and when the estimator saw the motor broke down in pieces, they assumed that it "Blew Up" and decided to cover it?

We have had this Insurance company in our family for 30 years, and I have everything under the sun covered with them so I think I got treated very nicely......
