BMW owners

I am searching for a used BMW. I owned an 1987 BMW 325E and loved it, it was my baby. As I worked in auto parts, everything worked on it. I miss that car now, so I have found one for sale for 1500.00. The kick is it has 3 hundred thousand miles on it. It is a 1998. I found it on Craiglist and the area it is located will be where Hubby is going this coming weekend. Wondering if that many miles on it how much longer it will run. I also have a Toyota 4Runner 1998 with 2 hundred thousand on it and it runs great, just looking for a car for work. I guess if it gets me thru this summer with no problems I'll be happy.

My experience has been that, in general, BMW's are very reliable but when things do go wrong the parts and labor are very expensive. It would not likely make financial sense compared to most other $1,500 transportation options but could be a lot of fun if you are prepared to do your own wrenching. If it was me, I wouldn't plan on any vehicle of that age/mileage as my only transportation but could be a fun 2nd car. Good luck and have fun!

This car is a 5 series and only gets 25mpg, so I'll pass. My 4Runner gets 22 on the highway. I'll start looking for a 3 series like I had before, that got 36mpg.

300k - i would avoid. Those years has water pump issues and a lot of the motors were over heated. plastic impeller breaks off pump.

Really great driving cars. I am looking for a 1995 3 series with blown motor or no motor. (2 door)
