Good to know there's more bikers that ride sleds. I rode the entire length of lower Michigan this summer with my wife...we both have carbon road bikes. My true love is the mountain bike, though. I currently have four in the garage (plus two road bikes, the wife's road bike, a cyclocross bike and a 1970 Schwinn Twinn tandem). Last fall, I brought this bad boy home...it fills the gap between biking and snowmobiling! Salsa Mukluk...3.7" tires!

SWEET!! My next bike will hopefully be a Mukluk! How do you like it? If you would, post some pics from your rides.

I was also just kidding about the socks. I was 10 in 1980 and ran them socks every day of the year cranked up to my knees! Also had a buch of cut off, to short jean shorts. Classic.

Very Cool! Snow biking is really catching on up here in da UP. The local cross country ski trails are allowing snow bikes, and there are now three or four snow bike races between Houghton and Marquette. I would love to get one, but can't afford it right now, and I'm not going to choose snow biking over snowmobiling!

Lenny,

Very cool that you're into bikes. Have you done any mountain biking? There are some pretty neat trails at the Adventure Mine.

Yeah...choosing snowbiking over sledding would be a tough one for sure...and I'm a hardcore biker! Fortunately...no issue here as the forest preserve where I ride doesn't allow anything motorized. Last Friday I got out in the 6 inches of fresh that fell Thursday night...I was the second one on the trail. It was my first REAL experience using the bike for what it was intended...and it was so much fun I couldn't believe it. I've ridden in the snow for many years on a regular mtb (my bike of choice is a rigid steel singlespeed 29er)...it just blew that away. The big tires float you on the snow...really a cool feeling. As a added bonus, the recent proliferation of snow bikes on my local trails packed a PERFECT ribbon by Sunday...almost like a groomer went through!

Have not done any Mtn biking, seems like fun though. I really want to ride bmx trails with jumps. I have talked to guys up and want to find that perfect terrain to have natural jumps and man made jumps. I'm not talking big big air but more so shorter jump with big lips, 15-25 ft gaps. Stuff you pump the down side and just flow through the trails.

That snow bike looks incredible, looks pricey also but it sure is worth it. Those brakes are killer!

I've always used my old mountain bike in the winter, but the big tire bikes look like a total blast! Looks like there are lots of places to ride near home too.

I still have a blast on 20." What a difference in geometry in 30 of development with the new bike. 6-7 years ago I raced a Standard Byke Co 125r for a few seasos and wow does it fit taller people nice.

Nice! a fellow Race Inc. owner.
few more, last one at Rockford BMX track 5-6 years ago on my vintage bike. Actually those red skyway mag wheels I bought in 1980, same ones in the pics with the tube socks. Looking at these pics again makes me want to race, it's such a rush, or just ride any bike, don't really matter!

used to ride on all types of ramps, started in 1980. this pic was from 2005 on my hoffman condor on the ramps down in racine. i think i was 36 when i was riding. you should of seen the look on those kids faces when i was shooting out of the pipe! Yeah lenny that would be sweet lets look for some killer hill and set up a nice run with some doubles and maybe a table top jump or two. Then lets invite andrew to try to keep up on dirt!

Matt Hoffman is the designer, he is a very popular ramp rider and now he puts his name on bikes. i bought it in 2002. he used to ride for Haro. The bike is called a Hoffman "Condor".

oh yea, I heard of the condor. I seen the video of him pulling behind a motorcycle to get enough speed to soar out of the halfpipe, he's a big air dude
