my semi retired life has me spending 40 hrs a week at a big box building supply store and we have run out of salt 3 times this past month....the corp heads could easily jump there price 50% at this point and no one would blink an eye, but they HAVE NOT even though emergency truckloads of salt being brought in has extra costs involved....is my company being dolts by not gouging the public in there efforts to melt there ice problems?....econ of supply and demand teaches supply, demand, gouge, greed and prosper, no?

as far as LP is concerned I can't see the additional costs of delivery adding up to 400% price increase...can you?

The last I heard my LP suppler would need to get LP from Utah geeez add some cost to that LP Gas tanker RT for LP to northern WI.....Just nuts & out of control right now.

Don't forget to add the substantial bump in home owners insurance..they do come out and take pics of your smoke stacks..deny you have a operational wood stove and you'll be on your own if it burns the house.

My insurance co charges me 25.00 extra per year they said as long as its UL rated

This is actually an interesting case of how costs from domestically produced resources can fluctuate. You always hear politicians refer to increasing domestic production of a resources, say oil, and how its better for the US. Any average IQ person understands that a company will sell their product to the highest purchaser, if that means exporting the resource then that's exactly what they will do. Yes it creates jobs domestically, which is always good, but don't believe the hype reducing costs due to a home grown resource, no such thing as a hometown discount to these multi national corporations; and as a stock holder to those coporations they better not undersell their product.

Lots of misunderstandings about LP as fuel heating source. My wife was in conversation with another lady at grocery check out & that lady thought we had a choice to use natural gas vs LP & we should have made the switch before the shortage. LOL My wife is like "Nooooo we can't get natural gas it is not available". The other lady "OH"!!!..... My wife is like *** you think we want to use LP no other choice for folks that use it. Geeezzz!!

national news just had a segment on propane costs..pig farmer in IN. pulled his bill and compared it to last year 2000/8000 this year...no alternate

blamed the pipeline, cold and exports.
