I suspect that this footage made a big difference in how much deductible had to be paid to repair the expensive car. Ducking a "bird" would put it under a comprehensive claim, rather than a NON-comprehensive claim. Insurance people can correct me if I am wrong, but I suspect that the collision deductible on something this expensive would be huge compared to a comprehensive claim...

I bet the insurance company would really like to see this footage...difference of paying a 100 dollar deductible and 45,000 collision claim.

The fact that the damage to the vehicle was not sustained by the animal negates a comprehensive claim. Similar scenerio's with deer, if you swerve to avoid it & collide with another object, it is a collision. You are better off to brake and strike the animal than to veer off the roadway to avoid it. You stand a greater chance of injury, even death by swerving off the road. In cases such as this, it would be considered an at-fault accident. Comp deductibles can be any amount, even the same as the collision deductible if one wishes. With a 1.6 million dollar vehicle, I would assume the company underwriting this risk would have stipulations on minimum deductibles for each. My guess is if you can afford the 1.6 million dollar vehicle, you can afford the deductible.-Mezz

I would say since he fixes exotic cars it was a dealer plate. I would say that car was a total before and he fixed it. He has that Enzo Ferrari now that was wrecked for a movie. So who knows if he could even get full coverage on it.

The only thing worse than doing something stupid is doing something stupid on video.
