WoW, That was great service! I'm happy that it worked out for you. I have spent money at that store as they have alot of good deals on nos gear. Big selection of snowmobiles too.

Still don't understand the reason for a cold seize. Does that mean the piston expanded and the cylinder wall didn't?

It means the piston heats up by holding the throttle steady for too long when the engine is cold and the thermostat finally opens sending cold coolant to the cylinder causing it to shink quickly at the coolant ports cold siezing to the piston. All the oil in the world won't help when this happens. Vary your throttle and speed when cold is the answer I guess. I think my thermostat was bad cause I know my motor was warm this time.

For years POL used fuel to assist in cooling the combustion process to help keep their engines together. Remember all the 80's and 90's sleds that came jetted 2 and 3 sizes larger than needed in most cases. The vast majority of these sleds never were re-jetted and lived a long time. The few customers that were not happy with the blubbering and plug fouling did some rejetting and gained performance but risked burndowns. Many carbed POLs had a lean spot in the midrange that could be a problem. Now with the new EPA rules POL has to build engines that CAN'T use their old friend 'fuel' to help their motors live. They are learning and it is good to hear that they are standing behind their products. If the Fusion didn't kill POL nothing will. I hope they get the Rush right and I hope the cure for the 800's works. We need them in the game.

I traded mine. no more 2 strokes for me. Polaris really dropped the ball in the last 5 years or so. I was on polaris for 30 years. We cannot lean these 2 strokes out this much. EPA go away.

the other f ed up thing is why dealers get 1100 for 300 in pistons and rings and 1to 2 hr labor.that is close to $400 a HR.I think there is enough cush there for him to back his work

I can't even imagine a shop or a builder for that matter, that would do a rebuild with using the old thermostat. When I'm in there it all gets replaced, thermo, waterpump belt, sensors, boots. Why wouldn't you? Request all parts to be saved!!!

4 stroke

I am with cmharcou get a four stroke. My 2 yamaha were not even broke in till2500 mi.These Yamaha four strokes will last 20-40 thousands mi with very little upkeep. To date I have brought 5 2 stroke sleds out of the woods. Also these four strokes get 16 to 20 mpg
