Captian Phil Harris of Deadliest Catch has a stroke

Just to let you know if your a fan of this show. Captain Phil Harris of the Cornelia Marie had a stroke while he was off loading his boat sometime today . He was transported to a hospital where is in under going treatment for that stroke I wish I could put in the link of the Discovery Channel here but don't know how to . Just hope and pray he makes it and my thoughts are with his family at this time to

my old man was a commercial fisherman for over 30yrs I spent allot of time on the bearing sea as a kid and i don't think redbull is keeping them awake for 3to 5 days in a row allot of pills and allot of powder.

To bad for Phil, Isn't that the second warning shot over the bow for him?

Every time a watch that show I have to go to Costco the next day for 50
bucks worth king crab!

jroz he had a blood clot in his leg that broke loose and went thru his heart.....very lucky he made it thru that!!!

OH NO!!!!!!!! I don't think he'll be back. I hope he lives and calls it a career on The Bering Sea. Let the men on the boat run the ship now. I highly doubt the docs will ever give him a clean enough bill of health to go fishin' again!! My thoughts and prayers are with him and the family on and off of the boat!!!!

an update on Captian Phil he had surgergy on Saturday night . They will update us more when they can. You can not live on Red Bull and Cigs and no sleep and not eating right when your still recovering from what happen with the blood clot a few years back . I wish he and the boys and all the guys on the Deadliest Catch would quit smoking.

Hope hes okay! Great show!! Maybe its from too much PIER PRESSURE if they are not out at sea! They hit hit the local gin mills pretty hard when at home!

ezra- Pills & Powder? Really? Discovery has installed cameras in the cockpits and they're followed around by cameramen 24/7- when are they doing all of these drugs? Maybe I'm naive I suppose- but I doubt it. They show them falling asleep, they show them taking breaks w/ the backup captains at the wheel- and redbull & cigarettes will go a long way. I can tell you that I've stayed up for 42 hours (travelling) and I wanted to go to sleep. I'm pretty sure they could do it w/out the illegal drugs for a few days given everything that's on the line.
That being said- Deadliest Catch is my FAVORITE show and Phil & Sig are the best. Hoping he recovers well. Scary stuff. Thank God he was at port when it happened or else he probably wouldn't have made it.

I do like how Phil treats his son. Do you remember when the son asked for full share season 1? Phil ripped him good. "You don't know nothin sonny get out of my wheelhouse".

I hope Phil starts taking care of himself after this second serious health issue. He seems like a great guy. Hope he fully recovers and comes back to the show.

just saying what I saw around the docks for 15 or so summers living on and around the fishing boats.it has been many yrs sense I have been out fishing maybe things have changed. but if I remember one of the shows had a guy who had to get back to port for court and if he did not get back he was going to have to do a yr or some thing and I thought it was drugs.but who carers every one has there own trip.and 48 hrs is nothing salmon season is verry short and you have to be fishing the whole time try 5 to 7days of 20 min cat naps .or 3 or 4 days of non stop chasing tuna schools then start fishing.I have some wild picks I will get put on digital and post some day.

Like I said, I could be totally naive to the whole thing also. I would at least hope the captains are 'sober'!

Best quote from that show ever (parents will agree) happens to be from Phil as well-
'Now we know why lions eat their young!'

I remeber that episode where the duder had to get off the
boat or he would get a year...

betcha he was caught with some snow crab.
