never ridden a non turbo 1100 cat .are they the turd I am imagining like z370 pep?
found some ultra lo millage XF 141 for a good price and mulling over picking one of them up. more or less for me to ride around the house and the wife to ride 2 or 3 times a yr.
I am hesitant only because I am afraid it will have the rush to ride feeling of a old fan am I off base on that assessment?

Ezra, My friend bought a '12 hold over 1100 non turbo. It's slow off the line, once in motion and rolling it has some torque. Compare it to a 90's 600 cc for power. not enough for me and my highcountry 800 runs right past it. Still a great sled for a back up or wife sled.

My buddies dad has an 09 I believe z1 lxr non turbo and yes it is pretty slow. Like said above off the line it feels like a z370 once going it holds it own. 20mph+ feels like a 500cc liquid. Tops out at 85.

I have one. It is an 07 holdover bought new in 10. I like it. Runs all day at 80 mph, top speed was 92 when I weighed 85 lbs more. Nice comfortable ride, warm, smooth, regular gas. You will need to stud the track. It's a great sled for riding all week in MI. Not a crotch rocket, but enough power to have a great time day after day.

I really like the sled

do we think they are turds off the line because of clutching? lets face it I would assume 90% of guys buying a non turbo 1100 don't want off the line snap or eave hard acceleration.theoretically any 4st should have enough torque off the line to clutch pretty aggressively.
not sure just tossing it out there.
only reason I am contemplating it is price and condition and that is really not the way to buy a sled

Better off with a Nytro XTX lots of snort put a big ole windscreen on & have at it. Can find Nytro XTX cheap too.

no was not even looking in the 4st direction until that one showed up. prob end up with a 9 to 11 xf when the right one shows up

It would be a good second sled to ride mn trails. it's not even close to the 800 ho. Clutching to get better bottom end would help it.

You are a technical guy, and you could figure out some adjustments to get more performance out of it. I bought my wife the 2013 f1100 and it's perfect for her. If you want to run wide open all day then get something else. But if it's true that you just want something to ride every once in a while on the trails around here, get it. It's a very nice ride, and I do not consider it a pooch. it's a 600 class sled. take advantage of the good deal, buy it, and clutch it or something.

I've riden one of those turds, was not impressed, the owner went through 2 belts that same weekend. I'm not trying to defend whitedust but yamaha 4s is 10 times the sled and also non turbo. Again, not trying to turn this into Yam vs AC, I'd just hate to see you invest in something that slow and sounds like crap, seriously the sound is aggravating.

I am over it. I really was not looking in to a 4st but it popped up and I was thinking about it. if it was a turbo I would own it .
still searching for a wife/my trail sled
