Sure wish I had my old 1972 Honda 70, I bet I could trade it for a cover for the RMK.........maybe.

yep that is about what a 72 90 is worth if it helped to make the deal I would toss in a set of plugs .
I do buy 70s Hondas if clean and price is right. usual just need points and I can turn them for 1g to 1500 in a week. the uptown hipsters always want to buy a image.
if u find early 60s push rod bikes cheep buy and stick in shed they keep going up

and if u find a vmax 4 in mint condition it will prob bring more money than your rmk. there are a few i of those vmax 4 still competing in 1000ft and winning.

Last February Skiroule came up and rode in ND with myself and a couple friends, a younger potato farmer from Minto, ND knew one of the guys riding with us and joined us. He was riding a piped V-Max 4 and had no problems keeping up with us. I had heard that someone up there had a bunch of them and I asked if he was the one. He said he had a few, about 40 that he rode and another 10 to 15 of them to fix up or for parts. That must be about half of what is left out there.

I recently bought a 1970 Honda 70 like I had as a kid, payed a pretty penny for it too. A few weeks later I was tinkering with it in my garage when some guy driving by offered me $2000 for it. The old bikes are hot. They need to bring back the old style UJM.

Great pics. Before I finally found mine, I was going to have a replica made up. After all the options were totaled up, it was over $2500. Everything is still available for them, everything.
thanks for the pic elkhorn, brings back good memories. same color even.

They're still every bit as fun to ride as when we were kids too.

Nah, I've seen those. I'm not sure those are still available. I found a place that rebuilds them and or assembles new replicas. I forget the name, its on my other computer. They give you a menu, size motor, (125-150 ccs), color, exhaust, wheels/tires, etc, etc. You can either have them put it together, or they put all the pieces in a crate and ship it to you. You can even order a carbon fiber frame.
I might buy one of their 150cc motors & 4 speed transmission and ride it like that while I rebuild the original 70cc motor/trans.

When Cat unveiled the "new" M platform, I made my decision. I will now make an RMK my next sled. Idiots!

U know any oh the Honda clone motors will bolt in to 50 chasi . XM is on of the better ones I have a XM piranha 140 bolted in my 64. have the stocker fully rebuilt in a Tupperware tote on the shelf. takes a bit of flex tubing to hook carb to frame air box I used sump pump blk flex hose and I had mess with 6v to 12 v a bit just replaced bulbs and left all old electronics in place and just stuck new stuff in same compartment. can prob put back to stock in 4 hrs,
but the 140 rocks in that thing over 80mph scary on it lol. and keeps that old pushrod motor in new cond .
If still looking at a full restored one some day let me know I will dig up guys number in Edina who has been doing them for yrs as a retirement job not cheep but showroom new and original

Thanks I'll keep your freind in mind. Yep that was my plan. Pull the OEM 70cc motor and trans and have it rebuilt. Then bolt in a clone motor with a 4 speed trans & manual clutch. The original motor and trans still work great, but I noticed its starting to use a little oil. These old bikes are getting harder to find, and guys are starting to hoard them.:(

Back on topic. I was waiting to see what the two new sleds were. I had my fingers crossed that Cat would realize their mistake and at the last minute offer a 7000 LXR in green. Nope.
Instead I took the money I had saved and bought a new motorcycle. Maybe next year Cat?

I don't think it will be long until that motor has some big jugs on it.
the crank and bearings look oversized for a 600 .
it looks like it could deff hold a 800

how can u say the srx was a pile?there are tons of them running around with well over 15k on original top ends.I would argue the best 2s ever reliability wise built for sled use ever. suspension on srx now that was junk .

how many rounds u got on your srx lenny?

my machine would be more like a sxr. I traded for it 4 seasons blown up with 6800 miles on it. The sled was totally abused and the most filthy, grimy POC. The previous owner didn't believe in maintenance. It does have over 10,000 on it now but the spedo has never worked. I am sure I have put over 4 g's on it. SRX was more of a lake racer, not a trail sled so the sus was rough. As far as them running, they run well and are still out there. SRX are finicky during warm up, you need to NOT touch the flipper till they are warm and you'll never foul a plug. MY buddy still has one and drags it up here every year but 10 years ago he was fouling plugs because he'd always start it and think he needed to feather the throttle to keep it running. I showed him the proper way to start it and he has not fouled plugs in 5 years, never touches the gas for a few minutes anymore
