John: Is the track what you thought? Looks on radar like the low turned west like a hurricane. All the rain suddenly hooked west too.

No surprises yet.

It was never suppose to track over WI or the UP. The track is for it to head into northern MN by later this afternoon and then up into central Ontario tomorrow.

Lots of wrap around yet to go through the next 2 days.

we've had some very strong wind gusts!! It took out the biggest tree in our back yard just a little while ago, glad it fell the way it did or it would've smashed the house

Glad I didn't take this week off for hunting. Just hope my tree stand isn't laying on the ground when I go next week.

Looks another trail cleanup session maybe in order in lots of areas.

Damage

A "tornado" or a micro burst hit about a mile east of my work at 8:00am. Lots of damage. Tore the roof off of part of the J.I Case Tractor factory snapped a bunch of powerlines and trapped people in their cars. I think a barn was lifted off of it's foundation and strewn about. Some car windows were also blown out of cars. Lots of trees down. No injuries :) Really wish I would have pulled my pontoon boat out last weekend. Hope my knots hold !

DOOSKI I am guessing you live or work near Racine WI?? That case plant builds tractors for me (I sell case IH and New Holland ag machines.) Can you fill me in on the damage?? I have 4 tractors that I am waiting on and am just curious on the delay that this might cause. Hope every one stays safe. We are not out of the woods yet.

time to rake the leaves

Holy crap she's a gusty one out there!! Gotta be pushin 60mph gusts right now in south central WI. If ya haven't raked the leaves yet, this is the day to do it!! Just get 'em up in the air...problems solved. :D

You are correct slim. I know they sent everyone home today and the strech of Hwy 11 in front of the plant has been shut down all day. I know that many of the area businesses lost power. I'm sure Case has a substantial power supply but with people trapped and powerlines laying everywhere I think they pulled the plug on the whole area.

I have not had a chance to check the news but I bet you could get pictures online from WTMJ 4 Milwaukee. I will be driving by there tonight on my way home if the road is open. I think you will have at least a day or two delay best case. I don't know what part of the factory was hit. If the roof is gone in a major area of assembly it could be a little while. I would not attempt any roofing activitys in at least the next 24 hours.

storm

Had tornado warnings & gusty winds around noon today here in central lower michigan - no damage, just lots of wind and rain.

Checking out the Stannard Rock - Marine Buoy data, the barometric pressure dropped right off the chart between 1pm & 3pm! Highest wind gust so far at 50 mph +. The boys on the boats will be riding the hook for several days!!!

The wind isn't as bad in Western WI, but the top of a tree blew off in our yard.

Trees down all over Vilas County, WI & whole night blow to go. Temps dropping ....already 37 so probably get some snow soon. Lost a 12 inch white birch tree so far snapped off about 10 feet up. Plenty of clean up when it finally breaks. Trails have to be a mess both WI & UPMI get those chains sharpened.

Yeah, we dodged a bullet down here (at least my place) in Peotone this morning. There was an official statement from the NWS that it was an F2 that touched down a couple of miles East of my house. The house that got hit was friends of my neighbors. Kids got roughed up pretty good. Supposedly the one boy was out on the porch and either got blown or sucked back in through the glass front door. Some cuts and scrapes. Last I heard everyone is O.K.
Supposedly a spotter said there was 3 funnels, one came down and popped back up, second never hit ground, and the third is the one that did the damage.

Our tornado sirens went off this morning also in Naperville/Aurora. Had to pull the kids out of bed and down in the basement. Does anyone know what the official low pressure reading of the storm center was and did it set a record?

The power went out for an hour. I can't wait to see what everything is going to be like in the morning.

As the low was approaching International Falls yesterday early evening, the central pressure was 956. Not sure if that is a record for a non tropical system or not, but has to be setting some kind of records.

I guess it's official. This was the strongest non-tropical low pressure to hit the US since we have been able to measure them. The official central pressure was 955 mb as it was traveling just to the south of International Falls. Just 6 more millibars lower and it would have had the pressure strength of a category 4 hurricane.

Bet the power crews in the Midwest are busy today!
