Green Bay station said it was the fifth lowest pressure reading ever recorded in the city and this storm was 400 miles away!

Right now the north buoy in Lake Superior is reporting waves to 26 1/2 feet.

Stannard Rock has been reporting sustained winds of 60 mph.

not a lot here

We seemed to have escaped the worst of the storm here in Midland. Heavy rain and strong winds, but it looks like the neighborhood still has all its trees and power. I thought it was interesting because there was a tornado warning down in Monroe and the reports you all are listing around Lake Superior sound bad, but not much here in the middle of the state.

26 1/2 feet !!!! Wow !!

Hey Slim,

It may be a while on those tractors. A 200 by 100 section of roof was ripped off of the Case factory. I guess the sprinkler system also went off and that casued a ton of damage. My friend who works there said they were shut down until further notice.

Is that from bottom of trough to peak or from the surface.

If you were in the trough would you be looking 50+ feet up at a wall of water?

Oh man that sucks big time!! They build 100,000-250,000 dollar tractors in that plant.... Can't imagine the damage. I tried calling sales support yesterday and they were closed up tight. This could really affect the year end buying that I was hoping for..... What do ya do?? When I got to work this morning I spent over an hour screwing roof tin back down on one of my pole sheds that was floping in the wind... What a terrible job. Sure woke me up though. Small fries compared to what a lot of people are going through. Stay safe everyone!!

I am not 100% sure on this, but I believe it is from the base of the trough to the crest of the wave.

Here in Chicago, Tom Skilling reported that the Lake Michigan water level at the Chicago beaches dropped 1.5-2.0 feet, and the water level on the Michigan side rose 1.5-2.0 feet from the wind. It's a hurricane-like storm surge. It's still windy here, sustained 25 mph and gusts to 45 mph. Skilling also reported the storm is 2200 miles wide.

I think your right.

- buoys that report height data as they ride up (and down) the waves. Readings from the accelerometers inside the buoys can be used to calculate the buoys' vertical displacements; these values are also a record of sea surface elevation.

Still a very impressive number. From what I read world record in the ocean is around 90 feet and those were whipped up by Ivan.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned all the rain. We saw a lot of swollen rivers and streams. It must have rained quite a bit. The bay at Ashland is even red from the inlet waters.

I never should have opened my big mouth! A little while after I posted this, We heard a big bang, and our power went out. Still out 28 hours later. Thankfully the office still has power.

I agree. The creek I live on is at the same level as it was after the big rainstorm last month.

That is good to hear. The tax man does not like a guy "post dating" a purchase order..... ha ha. Hope everyone is ok. This weather this year is amazing. I deal with farmers and there was not a single one that could remember this much rain. Let alone the 5 inch rains that we got so often.....
