Chasing the snow pics

For those of you who were lucky enough to be able to head up north this weekend and ride the trails, please share some pictures for the rest of us that weren’t able to take advantage. I’m itching to break my new sled in, usually ride in northern Minnesota or the Cable, Wisconsin areas but couldn’t break away this weekend, it’s killing me! Looking for people to ride with, if anyone is interested let me know. Might be fun to start a weekly post for people on this site to get together and ride, maybe a couple/few group weekend trips or just a day ride (if local to each other)? I’m in the Maple Lake, MN area but can also trailer if not local. Where are you from and what do you think, interested in putting together some John Dee site group rides?

The only counties that are showing open in WI are Iron & Marinette (partially open) and Ashland with good conditions. I would think more will open next week. Also looks like some snow coming Wednesday though Friday.

I've been out 6 hours each of the last 2 days clearing trails. It is a mess out there! We received lots of heavy wet snow. There are times you aren't sure where the trail goes. :(

If it’s white Vilas will open trails for Xmas week no doubt in my mind.

From what I saw yesterday on my ride to Rhinelander I can pretty much guarantee that the trails we be opening for the week between Christmas and new year’s. They will probably be thin but they didn’t look horrible.

Most Xmas vacationers come up for snow play and Eagle River can make a little snow go along way. Renters are happy with snirt conditions either chasing neon lights or just ride around for a few hours on lakes and trails. They’re not wrong difficult to make big bumps with snirt and they don’t care about rental hyfax and carbides. For the most part they will have great time go away with rosie cheeks and big smiles ready to do it again next Xmas. 😆

We rode up on the north shore this weekend and the amount of snow was crazy. Along with the stucks. We made first tracks down sections of the Moosewalk, Timberwolf, and Tomahawk trails and it was crazy. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow.

From the Sno-Eagles FB

The eleven clubs from Vilas County will meet on December 21st to discuss the overall condition of the trails of all the clubs, and possibly set a trail opening date.

At this time, there is not enough snow, and cold weather is needed to set the trails up in order to ensure safe trails.

Drove through Conover this afternoon and they were out panning there trails so from the north side of Rhinelander to the Michigan line a lot of the trails have been at least panned or rolled from what I have seen will be going up 51 tomorrow so will see what clubs have gotten out in that part of the state. As Whitedust said it is amazing what the clubs do with little snow and what people will ride. As for the cold it is here and things that have been worked should be locking up pretty good.
