Cheapest mountain sled rental out West?

We're still thinking about heading West this year...but the cost makes it tough. We all own short tracks so we'd be renting. If we go, we'd be looking to rent for four days. So far, the cheapest I've found is $180/day for a M6 which includes gas and oil. That's in the Togwotee area. Anyone know of anything cheaper. Looking to go West but save as much as we can. I'm the broke one holding up the group, so any advise would be appreciated.

Also looking at going to the Black Hills area and just rejetting our sleds, but can't seem to find a whole lot of info about that area.

One more thing - are there any inexpensive places to stay in the Tog area? I know there are options in Jackson Hole, but that's a hike everyday to where we found the rentals.

Thanks!

That's not a bad price. It's at or very close to what I paid the last time I rented, which by the way was in 2004. Think of it this way. If you ride for 4 day the rent is only $720.00 bucks. What could you do to your sled for that kind of money? Not much. The best part about renting is you get to ride'em like you stole'em. Wreck it and you go back and get another, minus the $750.00 deductible. Renting takes a lot of the responsibility out of the equation, Plus instead of driving out there, you can fly in instead. I do know that flying out and renting is way cheaper than owning everything and dragging it out there by at least a factor of 10:1.

and the black hills with a short track is not going to work unless you plan on trail running all day and if that is the case you can do that with your sleds out west but why

We're paying 130/140 a day with a full tank of gas & oil at the beginning of the day next weekend, 180 sounds pretty good to me for a mountain sled. If it were me, I would extend my sled just because I think it'd be fun to do so!

tog lodging

We stayed at heart 6 ranch 2 years ago. We stayed there because it was the most reasonable we found. We had our own sleds, but they rent and have guides. We were happy with the place would go there if we went back to that area.

Where are you renting from? I thought about extending my sled, but once you factor in all the costs and then have to move the sled out there, there's no way it pays off just to ride for 4 days out there every 3 years or so. If we went out there every year, that might be different.

I think it is a good deal, just seeing what else is out there. We're going to drive out there, but in a car getting 28-30 mpgs at 75-80 is a lot better than in a truck and trailer getting who knows what MPGs and probably driving a lot slower. Plus, we'd have to put quite a bit of money into our sleds to extend them, clutch them, etc.

Check out:

Mountain Meadow Cabins in Centennial, WY to stay
Snowy Range Tours for rental (Yamaha rentals)
Polaris Dealer in Laramie for rental

or
10 Mile Inn has lodging and rentals (Summit XP).

Not sure of the rates, but they should be pretty affordable..

some place in the minocqua area, not out west

Not sure if this is any help.

But a more reasonable option. I just stayed in Saratoga Wy. and rode into the Medicine Bow. Tons of snow, awesome trails, much cheaper lodging and can almost guarantee the rentals are cheaper. Tog. and Jackson seem to get more expensive every year because it seems all the tourists flock to just that area. Or if you wanna go all out this place is in Saratoga and all inclusive!! Includes Hmk 800 155", fuel, lodging, liquor, spa, etc. Brushcreekranch.com

Thanks Chilly. I just called around that area and the only place that seems to rent is Albanylodge, and that's there a little higher, although the lodging might be a little cheaper. Do you know of any others?

I dont get it? The word cheap bothers me. Tog. Is the super bowl of riding. Save some money and do it like a rock star. Nothing "cheap" about it. Buy a beacon and gear over time and do it right.
