I was eying this thing up at Pat's the other week. It is nothing like I've ever seen and is awesome. I'm sure the Yamaha engine would put every other blower engine to shame. How much will they sell for Lenny?

Ps. I think it is a go, will know soon.

My friend has a blower that looks just like that. Bought at Wal-Mart about 15 years ago. Tracks, 2-stage,120volt starter. Unstoppable. Chews through packed snow and ice. Really good machine. It is an MTD or something generic like that. I have always been on the lookout but never seen anything like it before today. His wife bought it for him in spring closeout sale. I think it was around $600.

This is a new Yamaha unit which I believe is still a prototype. It is electric start, 12hp, 36" cut,,,,power everything and man does it blow. I have seen Pat use this thing in 12" of fresh and it blows it nearly over the building. We're looking for feedback on this heavy duty unit. It really is impressive on how easy it moves snow. Pat cut a path cross his yard through untouched snow at least 100 yards and it just goes like crazy. Just by seeing it and hearing about it, what would you think a unit like this should be priced at? Keep in mind it's not your typical small driveway blower like we are used to seeing. This unit also has a feature that allows you to pitch the angle of cut to dig or leave a few inches. Thanks in advance for you feedback!

Looks like it'll really throw the snow, and probably be better on fuel than the big block chevy......

Sears YT4000.......$2400 for the tractor, $1200 for the blower.......watched the sales closely and bought with discounts.

my issue with buying tractors is they don't have the ability to throw the distance in all situations,,most the time yes but not always. I had one on a cub cadet and I needed weight on the rear along with chains and it still just didn't throw it far enough and I do not want to pay someone to come over with a loader to push my banks back. I have a lot now behind the "town Hall lodging" and it is a wide, deep lot,,,no way a typical blower could handle that job because you do not want to start blowing snow you already blew,,,,been there,,done that.

Now on many applications, what you just described is more than sufficient but we need to keep in mind that this unit has a particular application and probably not for your average homeowner, more so larger residential or even commercial tight areas.

Just another heavy shovel. I'll keep my JD 4430 with a loader on front and a 96 inch blower on the back.

that's a big a** tractor and the 96" blower is 3 times the size, how do you compare that ?

lenny,

I purchase a Simplicity pro series snowblower with heated grips, 11-12 hp 24 inch for 2K with a power shoot control. I would think the yamaha would go for 3-4K. I don't like the tube type handle bars. Look at the simplicity pro series bars they are much more stout. I love how far it throws, i have yet to try my blower in snow like that.

Ok Lenny, I have a proposal for you. Talk Kip into letting you bring it up this way, or heck, the both of you come on up for a road trip.

The above picture is the snow I need to move away from my lean-to in order to make more room for the snow that is on it and the shop roof to slide down. The snow on the level up here is just shy of 3 feet and the pile itself is around 6 feet deep. I took the picture from the path I keep clear to the wood boiler, so all that would need to be done is to drift off the path I have cleared, over to the snow pile and clean it up.

I would be happy to film the entire process with a pro-sumer (better than your high end consumer cam, but just a step below the professional level) HD Video Cam. Yamaha can have all the footage for free to use as they want and you and anyone else that comes with you get a free steak dinner!

So whaddya think?!

let me see about that,,do we get mashed potatoes,,,with gravy and I would need green beans (string style),,no salad,, but for sure 2 cans of Pepsi in a glass with ice (3 cubes). Kinda sounds like my last request if I were on death row. Are you sure this is safe?

It's safe as long as the temps are cold. Definitely a no go if temps are warm. I have seen what that snow on the shop roof can do to trees several inches in diameter. It only slides when the temps are warm though. Nothing to hit beneath the snow- as long as you go where I say it's safe!

John,

The blower is your's for the path clearing as long as you don't get too attached to it:) I only have one problem, I'm simply too busy taking care of all these great sledders that I don't have time to deliver! What do you think, can you help with that part? Let me know. Kip

That's Kip.

While I think it would be quicker for me to just get out there with a shovel and probably equal work shoveling vs. driving down to pick it up, come back, clear the snow with the blower and drive back down to return it and drive back home, the temptation to try that puppy out is too tempting! So I will get in touch with you about setting up the arrangements.

Steak dinner is fine, but winner(s) must collect the prize up this way!
