Chinese Dog Foods, Chews and Treats-NOT GOOD!

Ezra mentioned in another thread "lots of dogs dying from China treats/chews/ and food in the last few yrs."

For all of you pet owners, you may want to look into this as I did after reading that comment and it's some scary stuff-no regulations and who knows what they are putting in the products.

Even big-name companies within the U.S. are involved and they won't do anything about it.

I will not buy any treats not made in the US. We have gotten some treats on different Christmas' for our dogs and if they are not made here - they go into the garbage. Now they only get homemade treats, Mike Bones (they are Mike Bone junkies) and deer, elk or moose antlers to chew on.

We don't buy any Chinese origin pet food. There have been as many as 3,000 pet deaths reported from renal failure but there is no good documentation for animal deaths so that number cannot be verified. The quality control in China is appearantlyamost non existant.

We also make our own Meat dog food. Many can dog food is sprayed with preservatives at a packing plant to keep it for pick up for the dog food co. Then it gets more preservatives at the dog food plant. Its just not good. Try to stay away from all the cereal
in the dry food also. If you have a Cosco The Kirtland (store) food is made By Diamond. Same as Diamond Edge premium. I get it when ever I go down state to see family.

It came across our rescue site, but there are also USA treats that are tainted. Trust only what you know. We have a person in town that lost her dog, now she does the "bar thing" and hands treats in memory of her dog. COOL but I didn't take her off brand treats for my kids, just saying. Vet bill are $$$$ she meant well. Homemade treats are great, made some for my clad, but broke my blender! Carrots and such are GREAT treats. Dogs will eat their veggies, not like human kids.

I remember when this whole thing came down. My vet posted the only feed that could be trusted was Purina (excluded alot of designer brands). "Made in China"? How can you trust them. They can't even make drywall without poison in it! When will people wake up?

being in the food business for 20yrs now i have seen the slow infiltration of chinese food products in the us and as always they are usually of a lesser quality than U.S. product but a lot of restaurants, bar and Grills buy it because it is 10 to 20% cheaper i try not to sell the chinese crap because i like to sell quality but in these tuff times i guess i cant blame them for trying to save a buck but at the price of your customers. Personally i keep away from the china stuff they have no FDA
or any kind of standards over there its like buying food from a 3rd world country.

Why would anyone eat canned mushrooms from anywhere? They have the texture of nightcrawlers.
Don't think I have had canned mushrooms in 20 years

Fresh are always inexpensive, and 1000x better.

I've never looked to see where the food we buy for our dogs is made. We usually get Iams at Walmart. The only treats they get are carrots. They love carrots.
